This is truly for the geek elite. I have 4 of them, all from intel pentium chips that were defective, and they sealed them in plastic and gave them away as marketing gimicks.

Oh, I have some old processors. You are welcome to a 386 no charge, you pay shipping. Or mebbie a 486sx..

Yup, no pins, no cover. Just bare chip wafers set into plastic. I would imagine that they are collector's items now. One is set into a metal back that looks like a stylized cermaic cover. I'll take some pictures of them if you'd like.

how in he!! did u do that?

With a digital camera? Or if you are refering to the keychains, I got them directly from Intel, many years ago. I should think it would not be too difficult to make one yourself, from a dead or old processor.

my brother chipped the core of his 1700+ when he put on the hs/f (with a hammer maybe? ugh)

anyway, i drilled through it easy enough with a cordless drill

its a shame really, as ive got one of the same 1700's and its doing 2.09ghz :D

Yes, the chips that use a substrate to hold the die are easy to drill thru. Try drilling thru a 486 or Pentium where the entire chip was the die, not so easy.

Sweet! Anytime you ever think about getting rid of those let us know. Intel doesn't make those available anymore, too bad really, would be a small way to recoup losses on bad chips.
