Looks like www.2khappyware.com is no longer shipping orders, but I was wondering if there are places where I can purchase parts and build my own apple. I've built my own PCs before, but never an apple, and I wonder how much it would cost doing so. It's gotta be cheaper than buying one from apple!

check the trash cans around the neighborhood

Nice thread crapping.

Newegg has an apple store, check it out.

I am not sure this is thread craping. As far as I could tell, you can't buy an Apple motherboard, for example, from Newegg (or anywhere else for that matter). So, check "alternative sources" (the trash might be harsh... ;)). Since they guy asked about building his own Apple, an Apple motherboard, Power PC CPU, etc, might be important. As I recall, Apple doesn't want us enthusiasts building our own Apple computers. If so, Apple no longer has the monolpoly on Apple products. It also puts Apple in a position to support non-standard Apple configurations. Which Apple doesn't want to do. Of course, you can get some nice peripherals at Neweggs Mac store. Good luck building your own Apple from peripherials.

Mac upgrades are easier than a PC, when you want to upgrade instead of opening up the case, and changing out parts, you just throw it away and go buy a new one. heh i prepare to be flamed but it's kind of true :)

I hate to say it, but you're better off buying a machine from Apple, or a second-hand machine. The motherboard(and to a lesser extend, the CPU) are Apple specials, acquiring one is next to impossible, since Apple doesn't sell motherboards, only machines, so said parts are coming from a stripped machine. Apple machines simply weren't meant to be user-built, so the parts needed to do anything besides modifications are expensive and hard to come by.

you may be able to aquire an old mobo from a clone. One from the now defunct PowerComputing could accept up to a 800Mhz G4 now and uses PC66 memory which is dirt cheap for like 1 GB.

Maybe it can be found? You can then mount it in a standard PC case since it used AT hole spacing
