Another point is they are all pretty much the same from my understanding using the TI chipset throughout.

does it matter what "Brand" you buy? Not really to my knowledge... I picked up some no-name open box from Best buy for $25 with 3 ports and a 6' cable. Works like a charm (using it with my DV CamCorder)
