I am a complete fashion noob. Forever i have just been wearing what has been passed on to me. The only name brand shirts i possess are 2 polos from polo (rich aunt) and 1 gap polo (friend for bday). I have 1 express shirt but it doesnt really seem good for my bulky build. Can anyone suggest some decent clothing brands that are cheap? As of now i own a few t shirts, a few colored polos, and a bunch of white shirts.

American Eagle has a big sale on...though if you buy anything besides shorts you're probably going to buy crappy clothes. Beyond that I'm in the same boat (no fashion sense).

Maybe Dockers where you can find in just about every department store. I had a few of their polo shirts and a few khakis. As far as I know, their clothing is pretty good and cheap, if you get them on sale.

Otherwise, perhaps Old Navy or Kohls may be good places to shop. Maybe Target as well?

You are azn? You will either buy name brand stuff from Macys, Lord&Taylors, Nordstroms, Bloomies, etcetc OR you will buy exclusively from Banana Republic.

Personally, I found a few name brands that had fit models that had the same kinda body type as me. That meant that all my clothes would always fit well and look good so long as they didn't change to tailor to fatties. I like DKNY, Kenneth Cole, Perry Ellis. But most of my everyday stuff is from the Gap. Gap is friggin CHEEP... same prices as Old Navy but their quality is better.

If you're "bulky" and Express didn't work out... well, it's going to be harder for you. You may wanna try out some more Polo, Tommy Hilfiger, and mebbe Nautica. I know some guys that are bulky-ish and they like the way those brands fit. Personally, I think Ralph Lauren Polo sucks... but my fashion sense is more toward "hip"

So far the 2 polos from polo i have fit really well and the polo i have from gap fits perfect. I am asian but have never had anything from any of those stores you listed in your first sentence. Does each company generally have different fits? Oh and the express shirt was one of those ones made from 5 percent or so platex or whatever. It kinda stretches where i dont want it to.:D

These are a few places I get clothes from, aside from Old Navy.

Eddie Bauer - great quality clothes, although they are a bit pricey
American Eagle - I hate their shirts but they have good jeans/shorts/shoes
Old Navy - cheap but really low quality.. the only jeans I've had that have ever ripped were from Old Navy.

Basically all I'm saying is head down to your local mall dept store and hunt for some bargains in the name brand racks. My friends pay $40 for a nice shirt at BR. I pay ~$30 and get a nicer designer shirt that looks different than everyone who shops BR.

Each company does have slightly different fits because of the models they measure their clothes for. If you wanna look good for cheap, just hit the Gap and raid their sales since it seems their clothes fit you well.

Try to replicate what the store dresses their mannequins in and you're guaranteed to look good. I know one of the clothing line managers at the Gap (corporate), pretty interesting to hear her talk about her job.

Fruit of the loom tank top + cheap wilson mesh shorts = summer gear

Champion t-shirt + russell sweat pants = rest of the year

I agree with all 3 assesments.

Eddie Bauer - good quality clothes, a little pricey BUT they do have sales, coupons and local EB outlets (last weekend they had clearance sales up to 70% off).

American Eagle - I like some of their shirts but their cargo shorts are very nice.

Old Navy - Good quality baggy jeans for $22.50, buy 2, add a filler to get to $50, use a $10 off $50 coupon.

Just go in search of outlet stores, great prices on clothing. Just take a good look to make sure there are no visible flaws, though the ones with such flaws will usually be marked on the tag as something like irregular, or whatnot.
I got 3 nice button up dress shirts, a couple of tees, and a couple pairs of jeans for $45. Can't beat that in my book for namebrand stuff, and not have it come from a thrift store.

Whats the difference between a normal store and an outlet store? Do the outlet stores usually have cheaper prices then online ones?

Kohls is the perfect mix between class and low price. Not as cheap as walmart, but high quality clothes for little money. Just find out when they are having a sale (like every week) and go then.
