I'm building a new system (specs below), but it's not POSTing, and the system speaker just gives one long beep (maybe 1-2 full seconds) that repeats every 5 seconds or so. If anyone knows what this code is or can refer me to a site that has the codes (the codes aren't in the manual, btw), I'd appreciate it A TON.

A8N-E
3200+ Venice
512 MB OCZ PC3200 RAM (2-3-2-5, if it makes a difference)
X800 XL PCI-E

I don't know the beep codes, but may be able to help you isolate the problem if you want. If so, start with

1) what brand and model of power supply are you using

2) is the ATX12V cable hooked up

3) if the motherboard is installed in your case, is it on standoffs

4) If your video card has an auxiliary power cable like this one, is that hooked up too

5) Is the RAM in the DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1 slots as per the manual's recommendation

6) If you have a PS/2 keyboard and.or mouse, are they in the correct ports (green = mouse, purple = keyboard)

If all of that is good, then next try the board outside the case on a cardboard surface, with nothing but the CPU/heatsink/fan, video card, one memory module in slot DIMM_B1, no keyboard or mouse, no case wiring except for the power-switch wire.

Beep Code

Unfortunately I believe the motherboard in question has a AMI Bios, not Phoenix.

1 long beep is usually a MEMORY issue on AMI boards.

Follow mechBgon's advice....
