Where can I find an FX-55?

Alrighty, does anybody out there happen to know where I can grab myself an FX-55? Everybody seems to be out of stock until March.

FX-55 @ Newegg
Gotta love newegg 😀 That is OEM, so don't forget a heatsink and fan for it.
Just a piece of advice, I don't know if you already bought the Geil ram in your sig or not, but I wouldn't recommend it. I have Geil PC4000 also, and it is not a very good choice for the AMD64 platform. AMD64's benefit more from low latencies then higher memory speeds, so what you want is low latency ram that you can run with a devider, such as this.
Good luck, PM me if you have any more questions.

Why would anyone pay that much for that thing? Something special about it aside from the moderate + Mhz from a winny?

Yea, it has twice the L2 cache. Not worth it in my book, because my Winny at 2.655GHz is about equal in performance to it. At least, thats what other people have told me.

ZipZoomFly has the Retail version IN STOCKat $880.00 with FREE 2ND DAY AIR.A lot of money but no more than what lots of other vendors are selling OEMs' for, and a lot less than what others are selling the Retail processors for. Newegg has both the the OEM and Retail listed at $1,009.00. Both are on B/O with an ETA of today (1/31/05).

Monarch is also B/O on both the OEM ($999.00) and the Retail ($935.00). Both have ETAs of 2/16/05.

I've seen several threads here and other places people asking the same question. I remeber this processor debut was ~ $820. I understand supply and demand but AMD is not very smart not even meeting basic demand. that's almost $700 profit they are missing out on..instead they sell 3000's at razor thin margins.

Maybe yeilds are not too great, its 2.6 Ghz on 130 nm tech.

My guess is they did'nt expect this demand since 53's did'nt sell this well they prolly fashioned production like 53's but obviously were in error.... 2.6 is no problem. these are hitting 3 on air oced.

Yeah, perhaps 😎 But the FX 53 (not too sure about the FX 51) were not great sellers, just a thought
