Where can I find a notary?

So I have a simple document I need to get notarized, I've tried googling for information on notaries but the only thing I can find are individuals who do it by appointment and I'm guessing they charge a decent fee for this? Are there any places I can just walk into and get something notarized? Kinko's Bank? Law Office?

Most banks will only notarized documents for their transactions.

Try independent shipping/mail box locations like Mail Boxes Etc. You should find one within the first three strip malls you pass.

Try an auto tags place. I've gotten stuff notarized there before.

I usually hit my bank for a notary, but found two today at my local Auto/Home insurance agency.

Most banks around here will only notarize items for bank-related transactions.

Sounds like it may be different elsewhere.

What is an auto tag place?

It's a place that you can renew your DL, get license plates and deal with vehicle registration.

Your local Credit Union or bank (an actual branch) would be the place to go.
They should always have someone on staff that is a notary.

AAA is the least expensive option that I've found if you're a member.

There was a lady at my high school that would do it for free... and that was like 15 years ago.

He is from PA where DMV locations do not provide vehicle registration services. You have to go to Auto Tag places to get those things done.
