Where can I download the most common maps used for Counter Strike?

it takes way too long to download them while waiting for it to load up and what not. anyone know any sites that have packs of the maps and instructions on how to install them?

Best training....practice walking on empty maps after you have played a few games with real people. Learn how to aim, burst and move. After you get all that, pratice with some teamates. Counterstrike is unlike quake in that its more team driven strategy and positioning that it is about pure reflex. team that establishes postition early usually wins.

I used to play Unreal ALL the time, then went to CS. My biggest change over problem was aiming. In arcade type games, accuracy isnt dependant upon moving or fire mode. in CS, it is. That KILLED me. I would always do the run/jump fullauto fire, and usually get taken out. Burst fire is your friend!! DONT go full auto. I've seen alot of people taken well placed, thought out burst fire shots at crazy spray and pray assualters and win. Its hard to crouch and aim out your shots when someone is blasting at you, but usually it pays off. The AK is the prime example. Its damned near a sniper rifle if you do 3 round bursts (Hard to get 3 exactly, but quick bursts).

Otherwise, most servers run a website, and usually have the maps for download there.

Does anyone have the maps and is willing to let me download it from you? I can't download it from any of those sites. It either times out, or they want money for the download; which is ridiculous.

I HIGHLY recommend you download and install these 2 little crosshair's. One is for the Aug, the other for the SG552. There new zoom crosshairs. The normal ones are a light yellow. Guess what color Dust is. Pretty much all light yellow. You zoom, you have no crosshair (It blends in) This download fixes all that. It works, its legal. All it does it replace the gun config file so that it uses a different sprite for the crosshair, sprite is included.

The default ones basically suck. Bad. I dont know who came up with the idea of a freaking yellow crosshair. The new one is very visible, and isnt intrusive (Some are big cirles with linea and all sortsa crap). Check it out.
