The MS site has all the feature packs and service packs but I don't see the RTM or stand alone. We will buying it after the eval expires so no sketchy links, thanks.

thanks, would you know where to get the 180 day standard version? It'd be more work installing this then when we buy the standard edition we'd need to do a downgrade.

They provide this VHD with a pre installed SQL 2008 R2 Standard and Server 2008 R2, but it's not a setup you would consider to just "activate" and keep using as it's a prebuilt enviroment.

What I would do is use the Enterprise trial. Do your evaluation. Then if you decide to buy. Take a full backup of your databases with the trial version, before it expires. Uninstall the trial version and install the version you have purchased.

Then import your data from the backup.

you can directly upgrade from the enterprise trial to the full standard version. Information on how to do is available at Technet

But of course, always have a backup first.

This is for 2008 R2 trial, but you can click on Other Versions at the top for 2008 or 2012
