I have been trying for a couple weeks now to download open office1.0 from the openoffice.org site using their mirrors listed. My download always fails.

Does anyone know of another list of mirrors?

Just downloaded it there yesterday.

Are you D/Ling via HTTP or FTP?

Also, I found the europe mirror's significantly faster, both HTTP and FTP.

Is OpenOffice 1.0 better than Sun's StarOffice 5.2? StarOffice 5.2 is what I'm using now.

open office 1 is what sun will be releasing as staroffice 6.0 in a few days.
staroffice will have a databse app and better spell checking I think though.

trust me and download openoffice it is a thousand times better than staroffice5.2:D

While SO 5.2 is better than nothing, a lot of folks regard it in a similar light as they do Netscape 4.x

It's big and bloated, useful only if you have no alternatives.

I downloaded it the day after it was released. Had major issues with the download. I downloaded it 4 times and every download was corrupt. Luckily I was able to hack 2 downloads together and make one good one. I'm not sure what the issue was.

I would highly recommend Open office 1.0 from the little that I've used it, I am very impressed. And since I use MySQL as a database, there is absolutely no need for me to get star office.

OS 1.0 seems to load much faster than SO 5.2. And finally no integrated deskcrap.
