currency exchange...they'll take money from the check for fees and taxes, but you'll get most of your money.

at least thats what my gf does.

Why not open a free checking account? You're in college and don't have an account? You pay all your bills in cash?

Yep b/c those check cashing places charge a fee

But really man your in college go to a bank and sign up for a free checking account. Even if you have a different bank accoutn back home you still need a local bank account.

You'll get cash on the spot. Not sure how they track people down if the check is bad, but I'm sure that gets covered by the fees they charge.
