I moved across the country to college this week and I left that part of the printer at home. It's an HP Photosmart C4200 and all I have is the AC adapter with the part that connects to the printer. I'm making do for the moment because I have the same cord for an external hard drive, but I don't want to have to keep switching them.

I don't even know what the thing is technically called. The connector looks like two ovals that meet. If anyone could direct to a place where I can buy this (for cheap), that would be great. Thanks.

Edit: After some searching around, I found it's a Figure 8 (does that sound right?). I found it at MonoPrice, but it's backordered. Anywhere else? I also need an A-B USB and a CAT5, so anyplace I can get those 2 for cheap would be great, too.

You would need the ac adapter part number (marked on it) to identify which ac power cord set you would
need to get from HP ... Quite often, you can use an AC Power cord from like an Electric Razor ... or you could
stop in at a local electronics or computer shop or even Radio Shack and see if they can match up the adapter
with the correct cord end. Or just take the easy way out: Call home, have someone find the Cord and Mail It
to you .. Would only take 2-3 days at most and it would not cost more than $2 - $3 to ship it.

Cyberguys has exactly the power cord you need (2 prong.) They also have three prong (HP uses that.)

Cord

Yours is $2.49. Once you order from them, they send you a really cool catalog. Their parts supply is excellent. I use them regularly.

Those are some good finds. I didn't think they would have them. Too bad
the sites do not say what fits what or give the size of the end that plugs into
the power brick or laptop. I suspect they may be pretty standardized.

Laptop power bricks have two standard plugs - 2-pin and 3-pin. My HP laptop uses 3 pin, and my Lenovo uses 2 pin. Both standard.

The figure 8 pattern is a standard item, you can get a cord like that at Radio Shack even.
