OK, here are the Ford part numbers and suggested retail price.
Leather Shifter Knob (F5RZ-7213-AA) Retail = 108.00
Vinyl Shifter Knob (F5RZ-7213-A) Retail = 116.00
Button, in the shifter (F5RZ-7G555-AA Retail = 20.00
These shifters are not easy to replace, you may want a dealer to do the repair.
Went to local Mercury dealer and dude was shocked himself , dealership pays $60 from ford and sells it for $135

I made a mistake on the button part number, it is F5RZ-7G550-AA and still only 20.00. This is the overdrive lockout switch, not the button to release the shifter from park. If the park release button is bad, then you will need to replace the shifter.

Second of all, I think after reading 30 posts, what you want is the complete automatic transmission shifter assembly. That includes the automatic transmission shift lever, the shift-interlock button that you need to release it out of park, and possibly an overdrive button.
I don't think you ever said what year your car was. However, I'm assuming it is a mid 90s mercury mystique from your other post. You *might* be able to find parts for it at a junkyard, and it would probably cost you about $20.
However, as someone else pointed out, you don't necessarily have the skills to replace this.

throw it over the fence and then grab it when you drive by later...
i dunno.. i dunno what costs $30 from a wreckers that would be related with the shift knob.. seems $$$
