batteries should usually be purchased driect from the manufacturer. buying batteries from...say ebay is sketchy at best. often you end up with refurbs or self-built batteries.

I get mine from H-P - but this is a quality 3rd party provider - while $97 ain't dirt cheap, it is about 20% cheaper than H-P's price.

Scroll to the bottom of the link -- $59:

Cheap Battery

I've never dealt with them before though so you might want to call and verify that it's the right battery & is new. Got them from pricewatch.com and the claim 1 yr warranty.

Kahlon.com has always been good to me in the battery department. Ive used that to replace batteries on each of my vaios i once had. Never had a problem with them, and there pretty competitive in pricing.

geeze. Thats pretty expensive. I could buy 1/2 a new laptop for that price. :/

Does HP (or someone else) know the subspected battery life is for the HP Pavilion ze4600? Maybe my laptop is just a battery hog and is only suppose to have a 1 hour battery life?

i got 3 hours battery when it was new.

Now, 1.5 years later, the laptop gets at most 2 hours, with severe undervolting and screen dimming.

Then there must be something wrong with this battery. Does HP have some kind of warrenty on their battaries? I get about 15 minutes of run time when playing 3Dmark 2001.

Batteries can go bad any time after a couple of years. Some are bad to start with. I have had one like that and it was covered by warranty - the first year. After that - I think you are self-insured on batteries.
