Where can I buy Isopropyl 99% in store

Walgreens maybe??. I am trying to apply AS5 for both the NB and SB of my P5WDH as illustrated @XtremeSystems as I am seeing very erratic behaviour with my OC. I also have the Arctic clean TIM remover and the purifier. Can I use that instead of isopropyl.

The Arctic Clean works very well, you won't need the isopropyl.

Forget the 99% alcohol and use Goof Off. You can find it at any Wal-Mart in the paint section. Be careful not to sniff it too much or you'll be the goofy one.

Any CVS has 90% isopropol alcohol ... if you really want 100% then try a Medical Supply
house or an electronics parts distributor (not radio shack) ... but for 100% be prepared to
spend about $4 or so ..The 90% at cvs will be less than $2 and will work fine .. you could
also use Denatured Alcohol to clean it .. just light pressure or it may remove some of the
printing on the chip .. otherwise it will work just fine

You can get 91% Alcohol from Eckerd.
People from all over the world post on these forums. Eckerd is not all over the world!

I concur. I also use Preston heavy duty brake parts cleaner in the yellow can from Wal-Mart (and other fine establishments worldwide) w/ xylene and acetone. It removes thermal pads and grease as good as Goof Off and doesn't leave a residue.

70% is enough. any drug store has it i bet. frys too, but probably slightly more

I used 70% ShopRite branded Isopropyl Alcohol to clean my 3000+ Venice when I upgraded to a 3800+ Manchester.

Last bottle of 91% (which works just fine) still has the price tag on it.....$1.25.

I live in DC and the local CVS got it for me. They do not normally carry it, but their suppliers do offer it so it is easy for them to order a bottle for you. Talk to the pharmacist at the counter where you order prescription medicines. If they say they don't carry it and cannot give it to you, ask them if perhaps one of their suppliers offers it and if they might be able to place an order for it. In my case they ordered it, and I picked it up 2 days later.

They were extremely hesitant at first, as they were not sure why anyone would need such high concentrations of Isopropyl Alcohol, but when I explained why I needed it they were more than willing to help. If they say no, try any of the smaller local pharmacies, they should be able to order a bottle for you from one of their suppliers.

If you know what you're doing, 70% is plenty. If you're clueless, 200% wouldn't matter.

what else is it used for that would make them hesitant?

Long ago, when disk drives were the size of washing machines, I used to use the 91% to clean the platters and heads after a head crash because the impurities in 70% were said (?) to be larger than the 70 microns the heads flew over the disk. It was behind the counter at most Drug Stores in a tiny container for 10 times the $ the 70% cost in a Quart.

You'll be fine with the 70%.

91% (that's 182 proof) is supposed to be easier to make booze with. I don't think 99% is readily avaliable ... too volatile.
