I've check typical stores in the area and most are too expensive ($15+ per towel) or just crap and feel like they wouldn't absorb anything.

What say you ATOT?

JC Penney's on Black Friday, we stock up every year. They are $15-$20 towels for $5.

Horchow has great deals on Ralph Lauren towels all the time. I have a closet full of monogrammed ones. Be warned, they will cancel your order and you'll miss out on the deal if you put anything they decide is "obscene." Jerks.

Kohl's when they have 15% off coupon and a decent sale.

JC Penny when they have one of their super sales.

Bed Bath and Beyond if you want to brag about how much you spent.

Heh...
Hotels really need to start cracking down on this. If a towel is missing, you should be charged a $25 convenience fee.
Same thing they already do for when you drink one of their 16oz bottle water and charge a $2.50 convenience fee for it.
Interesting...Added to my wishlist in case I need towels in the future.
I don't need anymore towels though.

Consumer Reports rates the Hotel Collection from Macy's as the best value

You can get lucky and find these at the TJ Maxx type stores, but selection is very hit or miss. I got a Hotel Collection down comforter from there for $60, which was apparently mis-marked and should have been $200. :D

bulk towels?

Do you know of a place online for this? I wouldnt order more than 10 pounds though since it the shipping costs would eat into savings. If they folded them into alternator sized bundles you could easily get 10 pounds worth ina small box.

After buying towels from Costco eight years ago, I got sucked into the Kohls towels recently because they were like $3 and people said that they're awesome.

The Kohls towels suck. They're thin, and they leave lint all over you until you wash and dry them about 5 times. They feel like you're drying yourself off with paper towels.

I donated the Kohls towels to a pet shelter (let the animals suffer!) and bought new towels from Costco. Happy again with my thick, fluffy, non-linty towels.

i got some "Thomas O'Brien" collection towels from target when i got my house. They were like 5 bucks each and i picked up two, 2 face washing ones, and two of those slightly bigger ones. They work just fine...plenty soft.

I did also get some "Performance" quick dry from target for ~4 bucks each(same set up as above) and they work ok. Arent as soft as the other set but they do just fine. have them in the second bathroom.

Luckily i bought my house and was moving in when most stores have their "dorm room" type sales for college. You can find some pretty nice deals during those.
