Does anyone know of a butcher shop in Orange County that would sell that kind of meat in bulk? I want to buy several pounds of it, preferably thinly sliced and frozen. The local kbbq restaurant I frequent is quite expensive considering I only ever eat this type of meat over all the others.

Here's a picture of what it'd look like once grilled.

There was already a threat about buying "bulk" beef not too long ago mentioning that a few pounds really isn't considered bulk, but aside from that, I'd try your local Sam's or Costco. For better beef, (with my experience with military bases in the southeast) if you have a military or retired military friend or family member that can get you into a Commissary (military grocery store for those who aren't familiar) on your area military base, you can get better quality beef for a very good price, and it's also tax free.

I hear the navy's beef is the best, because of all the seamen.

Just buy a brisket and shave it yourself with a chef's knife.

They are about the size of an alternator.

Several pounds is far from 'bulk'.
Go to a local discount club, like BJs or Sams club and buy a large quantity.
You could shop around your local butcher shops, tell them what you want and try to talk out a discount.

Or you could call your local meat distributor and try to order for them, and then explain that the phone connection is not crappy and yet they are hearing you only want 5 lbs.

Large Briskets (10-12lbs) can be bought at Smart & Final.

Easiest way to shave meat is to freeze it, then go at it with an electric deli meat slicer.

Go to a local Filipino market and tell them you want to bulk the beef and shave it. Mamacita will probably throw an alternator at you and put a slight dent in your skull On the way out, buy a can of Skoal :p

Yeah well I was just saying it resembled it ;)

Not entirely sure but it's probably a Japanese cut of beef or something.

It's cow. Sometimes the restaurants use fancy names like angus beef, but it's just brisket. That picture was taken from cham sut gol, a kbbq place down the street from my house. I'm not korean, but I think the name is chadol baegi.

I eat that meat all the time whenever I go to my local kbbq since all that fat makes the meat taste so good. Just ask the restaurant people what the name of the meat is the next time you go or wait for another korean ATOT member to answer you (I'm korean but I don't remember what cut of cow that is)

Good luck
