I wish I could buy a cd player for my car that will play mpeg's I burn. 😎

Oops, I meant MP3's.😱

Heres one Aiwa makes

I hear best buy sells them for $250 (or was it Circuit City)?
I also know that Crutchfield stocks them but charge a higher price.
Do a search for it on this BBS, I posted about it months ago.

You probably already new this but if you didnt you have to convert the files into .WAV or .CDR(not sure about this one)before you burn the files on CDRs in order for the player to play them. The only car stereo that I know of that will even start to play MPEG files is Pioneers new blue faced thing(forgot the name will post later) but its price tag is up there 1000-1500 or so 😛.
Anyways hope this helped you some.

Delux, the Aiwa unit plays data mp3's and can read subdirectories also IIRC.
No need to burn to redbook cd's, which was why I posted the link to it.

Go Here

There's one from Aiwa for $300 and they go up from there. Not a bad deal at all.

If you read about some of the other head units, some have an input on the front for an MP3 player like the Diamond Rio

Of course you can edit id3 tags. Any mp3 player will do it. With winamp, open a song, and hit "Alt + 3" to bring up the ID3 tag editor.

The Aiwa looks great!
Any reason not to get it?
Does anyone know if the next generation ones will be much better?

I just have a feeling (like everything else) that the second and third generation mp3 car audio players will be worth waiting for .. unless you really have an itch that you have to scratch. There are much better things to come worth waiting for.

Of course the next gen players will be better. When hasn't this been the truth?
Even if they added some protection system because of the DMCA, they'll support displaying of more characters, better audio quality, etc. It's like everything else. Do you want to wait awhile for a better product or enjoy one now?

I know the AIWA and Kenwood decks have been out for awhile. Think of those months you could have enjoyed some mp3 in your car instead of waiting at home, hoping that someone will make one that fits your wallet and needs.
