where can find scandisk for XP

Hi, WinXP pro...
where can find SCANDISK?
i only see defragmenter

Two ways to get to it....

Start, Run, CMD. At the command prompt type CHKDSK /f driveletter: If the drive your performing chkdsk on is your boot/system drive it will ask you to schedule a chkdsk during boot at this point, do so, reboot and chkdsk will run next time XP boots up.

Second way: In Explorer/My Computer right click on the drive you wish to perform CHKDSK on. Goto Properties, then the Tools tab, click on the Check Now button, tick "Automatically Fix Errors" and then click Start. Same rules as the first method apply if the drive is your system/boot drive. You must reboot for CHKDSK to run.

Sorry - Norton Utilities won't do it either - it defers to CHKDSK on boot - like it will set up an appoinment, but in and of itself - nada!

It is all because of NTFS and the MFT metafile zone it creates. Scandisk can't deal with that. CHKDSK is it.
