I dunno bout the lifetime warranty, but the free mounting and balancing for life is there at Costco if you get all 4 tires there.

Go to a Super Wal-Mart. Get the highway douglas tires. Cheap and have a very good treadwear.

Plus if you keep the receipt in your glove-box, you can have it serviced just about anywhere, rotate those tires etc...

(Last time I went, they had my tags in their database & I didn't have to show a receipt).

Don't forget about independent local dealers. They're generally extremely competitive with the larger chains. Tires carry a higher mark-up than you might imagine, so independents have room to beat chain-store prices and still make money.

I got some decent-in-the-rain-and-snow, long-treadwear Michelins for my Civic for under $200 OTD at a local.

The tires that Wal-Mart sells in their tire centers can be viewed on-line at any time of the day. In addition to Douglas tires, they also sell Good Year, BF Goodrich and Michelin tires - and maybe some others.

For Example:

Good Year Viva 2: 60K treadware warranty, all-season tire. Priced between $45 - $53 (each tire.)
Good Year Viva: 80K treadware warranty, touring tire. Priced between $65 - $75 (each tire.)

Mounting, balancing, lifetime road hazard warranty along with free tire rotations and free lifetime balancing is about $9.76 per tire.

The road hazard warranty that Wal-Mart, Costco or Sam's Club provides will aid you in the event your tire has a problem where it can't be repaired. They will just replace the tire for you under this plan. If you buy your tires from Tirerack.com, you can have your tires mounted and balanced at Costco for $9.00 per tire - but, you'll forfeit the road hazard warranty.

It sounds like you're just looking for some general passenger car tires. I'd explore the options of Wal-Mart, Costco and Sam's Club. If you were looking for higher-end tires, then Tirerack.com is the way to go because the savings will be quite substantial.

Tirerack has some of the best prices plus links to local shops and prices for installation.

KUMHOS rule for cheap, durable tread.

Actually, my Costco location does not carry the Kirkland Signature tires any more. I guess they didn't sell too well and people still prefer to have name brands on their tires.
