What percentage on the scale of your LCD monitors settings do you have your stuff set to? Just wondering really--I recently got a ViewSonic VX922 I believe it is, and it's beautiful, but the text seems just a bit hard to read, and I've having problems pinpointing what is wrong.

I've been searching and reading, and I keep reading that basically no LCDs come correctly set out of the box. I currently have my brightness and contrast set to about 2/3.

I was wondering what everyone else has their stuff set to...

Brightness is at 50%, Contrast is not adjustable.

Edit: 2005FPW here; I can't remember but I think it may have been 100% brightness out of the box, but 50% seems to be plenty for me

O RLY?

Same here. 50% brightness, but the contrast is at a non-adjustable 50% too.

On my KDSUSA (don't remember the model #) i've got it at"

Brightness: 50%
Contrast: 77%

Looks pretty good to me. 🙂

Same monitor here.

The VP930b cam REALLY REALLY bright out of the box, nearly blinded me. As for the Color, it's on 6500k and thats the (i think) how warm the color is. I did the configuration thing that came with the monitor and everything else was fine.

Amen. SRGB mode while reading text is, well, painful.

There are calibration programs you can use. I don't have one bookmarked but I'm sure you could find one if you searched around a bit.

ViewSonic VP930b

Used the calibration software that came with it and run it at these settings:

Brightness 40
Contrast 60

Color Temp at 6500k. At default it looked a bit too warm. But after calibration colors are now near perfect.

ClearType Tuner set to 1.4

I agree about this monitor being WAY too bright out of the box. It will blind you. 😉

3-yr old Samsung 191T (top-of-the-line back then)

Brightness: 28 for text (that's right, this monitor is super-bright!) / 50 for gaming
Contrast: 50 (locked, since in DVI mode)
Color: (orig used colormatch software that came with it, now just use control panel)
Red: 0.80
Green: 0.85
Blue: 0.95

You might want to try lowering your brightness setting too, made a big difference for eye comfort for me
