Well, the supersavage was announced several months ago, but no word of what laptops will be using it.. actually, no word of any information since the previews we saw months ago.
The current 3d offerings are far from inspiring:
Geforce2 Go - only comes in 3 laptops, 2 of which are clunky desktop replacements that have terrible battery life (due to a number of things, namely the G2Go itself.) The last one, while a nice solution, is difficult to find (backordered at Toshiba for a long time) and it's battery life is quite questionable.
Radeon - THe radeon mobility only comes in 3 laptops, with a whopping 8mb of ram (which is pretty sad.) 2 of the laptop makers that use the radeon are terrible manufacturers (HP and copmpaq), and the Sony laptop featuring the Radeon is exceptionally expensive ($2500)
The Mobility M4 is just a bit too slow, although common and very inexpensive.
So what fits the niche here? The supersavage.. it'll have respectable (though not spectacular, which I don't need) performance as well as low power consumption in a non-expensive package.. that's hard to beat.
Anyway, this post isn't about if the Supersavage is good or not, I was wondering if anyone had heard any information that I hadn't.. or does anyone have any actual benchmarks of how the chip may do? How bout release dates on laptops with the chips? Which companies will be using it? (The savageMX was quite a successful chip and used by many laptop makers.)
Thanks!
