hmmm, i would doubt it very much that cases like those are readily available. A lot of OEMs actually have their cases custom-made for them. A few of them use normal Retail cases but just put a different bezel on them so that they look different, and of course a different color on some of them like the HP ones :D

The only cases that i've seen for sale where the ONLY difference are the Palo Alto ATCX cases which are the ones that Dell used for their Dimension XPS series systems, as well as Micron (MicronPC, and now MPC) used to use for their ClientPro and Millennium systems.

Covette is really powerful car, but interior just so.......hmm.......not as refine as Jag.

One of the major problems is that those OEM cases are proprietary and only the proprietary motherboards will fit into them.

I know that Dell has moved towards more semi-standardized looking cases, but they are still proprietary.

Do yourself and your wallet a favor; purchase a good ATX case/powersupply. You'll be able to use it for the forseable future.

BTW, what's "not refined" about Antec's latest 1080-series cases w/the Trupower PSs, front panel USB/Firewire ports, etc? They are even in stylish black/gray. :)

I want to get one of those Gateway cases with the door on them, they're sorta a smooth lookin silver Antec server tower.

They're probably very propriety though...

IMO the Alienware Prototype looks pretty slick and is going to be full featured, but they are going to make it exclusive. Some will loath it, I like it :)

Sure it is nice.
But where do they hide all those OEM case?
I have no idea :p It would be cool if you could make it look like a Dell or Apple and have the effect cars have of being a "Sleeper". Your friends would start joking about it until you "pop the hood" and show 'em the "engine" :D

is there a specific case you had in mind?

I kinda like Dell's black case, HP Media Center Desktop or Sony MX.

i believe dell's case is proprietary, im not too sure about the others. dell uses a special case that uses a hood over the processor to vent air to one of the case fans. it may or may not also require a special motherboard, so the case is probably exclusive to dell.

The Dell enclusure I belive was designed by flextronics........
On the older Dimension XPS seiries the case was based on the Palo Alto ATCX as reviewed by Anandtech .Palo Alto Products has since been brought by Flextronics..

The current black Dimension cases don't take full sized ATX boards anymore....
1.I think it has only 5 brackets now...so it can only take shortened Motherboards Only.....!!! (ie Micro ATX)...
2.You will also have to change the PSU...Think dell still uses some funny PSU so you are going to have to change it..
3.Also with the front pannel connectors...you will need to wire them your self again..(tip a CD-rom Audio Cable to rewire it)
4.You will also need there drive rails if you want to add new parts... (think you can call them up to get the parts)..
5.They are damm quiet...
6. Yes you can mount standard CPU cooler in that case...but not with their mobos.
7. Dell uses 92mm fan for their CASE/CPU which aren't that readily availible...The one they use are damm quiet thou..

Lookin at the current dell case, you can see that it was optimized for mass assembly.... I they can slap all the compnents in the assembly plant in less than 1 min.......Thats why they can offer the (component) customization which other vendors have difficulty offering...

So if you want to use one of the newer clam shell you will need to put a little work into it....
