I count Gateway.com, Compusa.com, GameVe.com and CDW.com as being the only "big" retailers that are carrying the x800 xt...doesn't it seem a little weird that places like newegg.com, bestbuy, etc. don't even have it listed as a pre-order item?

Well, I'll start by not making the same mistake I did in another thread.

Welcome to AT!

I wouldn't count any of those, because none of them are atually carrying it. ZipZoomFly is also carrying an X800XT and for $485 to boot (which is odd because X800 Pros there are like $465).

The only reason that other places aren't "carrying" it is because its not out in enough numbers for them to sell any (in other words they have not gotten them). Newegg was selling it for about 2 sec. before they took it down. I don't know if anyone actually got a card from them, but I'm sure they took it off their site so that they wouldn't get nagged every 2 sec. by the hundreds of people waiting on this card.

Oh, and a quick tip, the search function works quite well here. ;)

This is the weirdest launch ever. Nvidia launches and still basically nothing. Than a couple of weeks later ATI launches. Now here we are, end of June and the only new card I can buy in Canada is the x800pro, seems like quite a few of those available at not cheap prices. I think they are both having fabrication problems - so they blame the shortage of memory. As the pro is the same mem as the xt, I assume yields are bad.

ATI probably has to milk the X800Pro for some more sales first heh... or they're doing some re-fine tuning of their X800XT to go up against 6800Ultra ?

Yeah demand surpasses the supply at the moment. All companies are ordering huge shipments of the X800XT PE. But there is no say of how long the back ordered will continue on.
Hopefully by mid July, they will start to be in-stock.

It is not paper launch since I got my X800XT PE last week from compusa preorder.
On the other hand I'm still waiting on my another preorder - 6800U from BB - with no end in sight - so there we got a real paper launch.
I'm already finishing Far cry on XT so I don't know what else to play on 6800U.
id -GIMME my DOOM ASAP

This is not a paper launch (at least not by Ati) the X800XT PE, X800, ect., can be found if you search around the internet.

CUSA has some on-line at this moment, there is a thread posted at rage3d forums with a 1-800 number to call.

I got mine last week by calling one of CompUSA's distribution location directly. Ordered it Monday night, with overnight delivery, it came in on Wednesday (16 Jun). If you don't mind ordering it on the phone, I believe the below thread mentions another CompUSA location that has the x800xt PE's instock and ready to ship.

800-278-4685 ext 2575.

Actually the lack of GDDR3 in the channel could be a valid reason. 6800s are out and they seem to be picking up supply. But they use old DDRI memory.

I agree this launch is baffling for the total lack of parts in the channel from both companies. I mean in theory we are 2 months from the fall refresh and we havent even seen parts from the Spring introduction.
