Where are the x800 XT PE cards??

CompUSA has a date of August 15th post on their websites, but it was now delayed to September 1st as the arrival date fro the x800 XT PE cards. I'm afraid to reserve one because they may push it back again. I won't mind getting an AGP card, but are the PCI-e versions going to be released at the same time?

Anyone know where I can get one of these cards?!!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Well, its anybody's guess when these will be out. ATi isn't saying anything, even though there's obviously a problem of some sort.

Well, if possible, and you're planning on upgrading your motherboard and cpu then I'd wait for PCI-Express.

Yeah, i was curious myself about the PCI express. Now that you brought the topic up. I hope some people could give any feedback on this.

Do you have a link confirming memory shortage?

How could it be memory shortage when X800 Pros and 6800GTs are so easy to come by now?

The GT uses the same memory as the Ultra, just clocked lower doesn't it?

Uh...exactly. Finding chips that clock high enough to be put on Ultra boards and XTPE boards are hard to come by....

I know nothing about creating memory, but when they find a great chip, why don't they study it and duplicate it to a degree(Learn what made it so great and make everything else like that) so they have more.

Not about the chip design so much as it is the variations between the chips made from the same process. They more often produce memory capable of Pro and GT speeds than they do for XT PE or Ultra speeds.

I am sure they could eventually figure out how to ensure they get the memory to perform as they need it to for the current generation of GFX cards? however, by the time they accomplish that task we would have moved on to having them make memory for the next generation of GFX cards.

Our push for constantly higher performance gives little room for guarantees when it comes to producing it.

Bad News. CompUSA pushed back their expected arrival date from August 15th, to September 1st. Now it is September 20th!!!!!!! This card was orginally expected to be out with a PCI-e version on June 15th!!

AHAH!!!

Read up on how microcircuitry is produced and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, and you'll understand why this is not possible.
