It's better than throwing them away. Do you understand what a "write down" is?

Yes, do you understand the stupidity of flogging previous gen parts at such a low price that it would harm sales of current gen parts a lot more?

Expect Richland notebooks to show up during the back to school timeframe of electronics. Late June early July iirc.

Nothing, just more mrmt financial crap that he infests every amd thread with.

It was you who brought financial/marketing numbers here, not me. Also it's not my fault if you lack the capacity to understand the very numbers you brought.

Typical marketing comparison. Compare your own best performance with the worst performer from the competition.

Comparing the highest end of both the difference is more like 30%, and haswell will very nearly close that gap entirely, even for the GT2.

Edit: I guess it depends on how you do the calculation. I was calculating with AMD performance as the denominator. If you calculate the other way, the difference is 50%. Anyway, we need benchmarks from independent reviewers in real games to know the true performance of either. 5750 is richland, right?

How many people's use case is sitting around playing 3DMark on their laptop?

irrelevant benchmark is irrelevant.

How many are running render farms on their laptop? Yet you put a lot of stock into Cinebench I'll bet.

Mobile Richland is a joke right now. Launched more than two months ago, no test, no listings but more and more pathetic marketing slides. Nice.

Shipped is different from launched. Haswell targeted a June launch for a reason. Computer sales rely heavily on back to school and new year product cycles.

Dont really see what the date Intel scheduled Haswell for has to do with the Richland launch.
If AMD is waiting for back to school sales, they should have just scheduled it for that date.

The whole Richland "launch" seems very poorly done to me as well. Wasnt it back in March that we were expecting reviews and availability almost any day?

Richland started shipping half a year ago. Mobile Richland launch in March was a horrible paper launch.

Just pointing out that this statement is flawed:

Just as Haswell being shipped for some time and ready to go at retailers now doesn't make it's June launch a joke.

Edit: After looking for the original AMD Press Release I think you are correct actually. Somewhat of a joke: "Performance and traditional notebooks based on these 2013 AMD Elite A-Series APUs are shipping now with availability beginning this month in select regions."

http://www.amd.com/us/press-releases/Pages/new-amd-a-series-2013mar12.aspx

Select regions, in other words they knew most OEMs were going to sit on it until enough previous Trinity inventory had been flogged off. But they wanted to reduce the impact of Haswell's increased iGPU on perceptions of AMD APUs, at least that's my interpretation.

It is not flawed. Haswell is not even launched yet.

Richland mobile launch= more than two months ago
Haswell= not launched yet

Do you see a difference here? We don't talk about shipments, we talk about the launch date.

@ cost, AMD was sitting on 90 days of inventory at March 31, which is quite a bit more than historically. They have to take inventory from Global Foundries, they don't with TSMC. My guess is they're controlling TSMC sourced inventory tighter than normal to compensate for the uncontrollable GF situation. Selling previously written off parts makes matters worse (and more generally, they are kicking the can down the road).

So who knows how much Trinity they still have on hand (not to mention what OEM's and retail are sitting on)...which precludes them from actively selling Richland. Meanwhile OEM's are clamoring for more written off Llano's, and Kabini's (has anyone wondered yet why Temash is available but not Kabini). Poor Richland is getting squeezed - Intel most assuredly knows this and is in full meet comp mode against any APU'S fabbed at GF - wouldn't you?

I fully expect another big write down AND GF "PAY" announcement in Q3.

i7 3520M is the worst intel offer in the mobile segment.?.

The comparison is fully adequate since this is a 35W part ,
not like Anand that used a 45W part to mislead people
to the point that in this forum we often see posts where
people think gullibly that in mobile intel has the upper hand ,
thanks to that purpotedly biaised review.

And what about price.?.

All three are Richland.

You sell Llano's, you don't sell Trinity, you don't sell Richland's. AMD product marketing has been constrained by GF inventory issues caused by the WSA for some time now...

Have you seen any PC advertised theses times that use thoses Llano?

They were already dispatched in some low income markets ,
fact is that everybody in the chain is getting rid of previous products ,
including Trinity , while building new inventories with the refreshed lines.

Re-read my post after editing. I think the difference is in the way the calculation is done. Highest Intel is about 600 and highest amd is 900. I was looking at 600/900 as Intel having 2/3 the performance. But if you calculate 900/600 you could say and is 50% faster.

Marhmatically I don't know which is more valid.
