Damn! I want to get that chip. Would OEM be THAT bad? I mean, the only reason I want the AMD Retail is for the 3 Year Warranty and the Case Sticker 🙂 That is REALLY important to me.....having the safe sign of kick @$$ equipment inside 🙂 Then again, I know I have kick @$$ stuff because I'm on the machine! Hehe. Right now, I'm using the Asus A7V with the AMD 1Ghz retail chip. I had some serious problems when I first got my setup....argh! First, I was blessed with a bad chip (It was retail,too!). Then, once I got the beast up and running, it was SO unstable in any version of Windows. I got some newer VIA updates, BIOS updates, etc...that helped A LOT! Currently I'm on BIOS 1005a, but I will change it soon. It's pretty damn stable right now. I'm noticing some problems with Windows 98SE and it locking up, but I use that only for gaming. (It's hella stable in games, no lockups) Win2k is granite, so no problems there.....I was going to go with an Intel 1Ghz setup and the Asus CUSL2, but Intel is SO damn expensive! I've used AMDs for as long as I can remember....AMD 486/DX2 120Mhz <<<first computer!!!, then it was up to an AMD K6-300 that I built...that was a pretty dang nice upgrade! AMD 1Ghz....well, let's just say YEAH! 😎
Anyone know when the 1.2Ghz retails are coming out?
