There has been a lot of announcement of new phones on at&t, verizon and even T-mobile; but NOT sprint.

I've been a long term sprint customer so I can upgrade anytime and currently do not have a data phone. I skipped the Evo because of short battery life and been hoping that sprint would get a phone close to driod x or captivate form factor but next gen hardware.

Not a peep on new phones for sprint (hint I want a thin phone with decent battery life; working gps and NO keyboard). Is that too much to ask ?

You may just have to move carriers. Sprint's draw is (or was) more on the price side and less on the hardware side.

They did just release a new EVO but it has a keyboard and I think the recently announced WP7 device does as well.

Sprint seems to like keyboards more than the other carriers. Their version of the Galaxy S is the only one with a keyboard, they have the EVO Shift (also has a keyboard), and their first WP7 phone will have a keyboard as well.

The Epic (Galaxy S) is pretty thin and light for a phone with a keyboard, and it has a great screen and is fast, but the GPS on it sucks. Battery life is so-so but not significantly worse than any other smartphone.

didn't we know about the evo this time last year?

I was holding my breath for something new, now I'm not so sure.

there is a reason sprint is cheaper. they buy the cheaper phones and that's reflected in your bill

they'll have something to compete with the big dogs, but they'll just be a few months late as always

Dont they charge $10 per smartphone now? That would raise their prices a bit more in line with other carriers. Still cheaper probably but the gap is smaller then it once was.

There's also the HTC Arrive Windows Phone coming to Sprint as well. That's all the new stuff that's been announced.

We had whole long thread on the new Sprint Android phone.

Yea I knew about that phone; was a huge disappointment with regards to my objective. I'm sure kiddies that sprint cater towards will jump on it. Hum. Maybe I should switch to verizon or t-mobile (local at&t stores need an attitude adjustment - probably from when they were the sole provider of iphone).

Sprint seems to have better coverage nationally than t-mobile but verizon does some really bizare things. I suspect when LTE is available for phones they will have introduce tier pricing; if not I might go that route (or if the tiers are reasonable - at&t tiers are kind of lame).
