Where are the new avatars?

There are always posts begging for new avatars, and the response is always: not now. What's the difficulty with introducing some new life into the forums?

I like the old avatars. Besides, that's half how I recognise people now. Username and avatar = mental picture of poster.

I agree. Just like Roguestar, I also know people by their avatars. Removing all the old ones would just change all that.

Steve is showing us what a tech site should be. Have the members help with their own efforts. I don't want these forums to allow every member to create their own avatars like some sites where anything goes and .gif files eat up the bandwidth.

Please...let's add some new ones to the existing choices.

What about a subscription account that would allow people to place custom avatars (although I'd like to keep them the same dimensions as the current avatars, to keep the AT look simple.)

It could also be hosted outside of AT to save bandwidth. There could also be other things added, like a subscribers only forum, or other benefits (like one get out of ban free card?)
