Hello guys,

@ cdfire,

I fully understand your decision to stick with the 680. Hell, If it wasn?t for that quad support thing I would have never thought of replacing mine. GB?s P45 looks very much alike our 680 but I think that this time GB did a much better job. I believe that they have learned from their mistakes with the 680 and the P45 is all the 680 failed to be. In fact it has everything that I like on the 680 and If I didn?t had SLI I would probably be on the phone right now quoting for a P45 replacement. I also know of a certain Beagle that would love to get his paws on a board that supports teaming across 4GBit LANs.

@ Sterman,

I believe that the guys at GB will do their best to help us out with this but since the 790 is more likely 30-40 days away I don?t know if an open dialogue on this will get us anywhere, at least not now.

@ The Kapt?n,

I hope that you get somewhere with NVR0FLASHDev and ntune. As Mr jaggerwild said this can really screw your system and if my memory serves Mr jaggerwild fell, at some point, a victim of the aforementioned program himself. If you need any kind of utilities for your SLI rig I would recommend Rivatuner, nHancer & Coolbits. I?ve never had any problems with any of these. Keep us posted on how you?re doing.

@ jaggerwild,

Thanks for the heads up on the 1.92 drivers. I?ve installed them over the 1.91 as soon as I saw your post. After excessively testing the 1.91 drivers I have nothing to report except the fact that at some occasions iTunes would stop reproduction. Still, since I?ve been installing/replacing various programs and devices during the last days (SP3, new monitor etc) I?m not 100% sure if this was driver related. If it was then Realtek must have corrected this with their latest release as it works flawlessly so far.

If anyone else is testing the 1.92 please let me/us know of your results.

Blazer7,

Fixing the NVR0FLASHDev error didn't help with my shut down problems after running Crysis. But it is nice to see (relatively) clean logs. Perhaps new RealTek drivers are in order.

I understand that sound errors may prevent shutdown. However, I would be surprised as I do hear the shutdown jingle being played.....

I have been using Rivatuner for a while. Seems to work very well. (I can't get 2.09 to work though, and am currently stuck on 2.08.)

Good morning all!

Mr. Kaptdeath,
If Rivatuner isn't working right then I'd try un-installing then reloading it, I had troubles with it too. But when I did this it seems to be working ok for me.
@ eveybody,
Or anyone with a 45nm in there future, there is a good read over here on there lowering the voltage comsumption for these chips.

Jaggerwild,

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling 2.09 a few times. Whenever I clicked on anything to setup fan profiles the program hung. Also the newest NVIDIA drivers (175.16) are not supported officially by 2.09 either. That combined with the fact that 2.08 seems to work fine (other than regularly losing my fan profiles, but that is more probably due to the complete unreliability of my system) is probably why I will stick with 2.08 for now.

Morning all!
Mr. Death,
When you go to tweak the settings under the video cards (in either version) did you click the compatability tab then check the bottom tab for the Nforce motherboard? This may help, not sure what cards you have?
Regards all :D

Jaggerwild,

Thanks for the reply.

I tried checking that box under 2.08 and it didn't seem to do anything for me. Most of what I have read is that you should leave it alone. I may try it to see if it helps with the corrupted fan profiles, but it seems that simply stopping and restarting rivatuner seems to handle that. I have 2 XFX Alpha Dog 8800 GTs in SLI. They are clocked at the standard 630 Mhz GPU/950 MHz memory and I am getting no where near your 3dmark06 numbers. (Probably due to my gimpy E6700.)

Blazer7,

I just downloaded and installed the latest drivers from RealTek 1.93. They seem to be ok so far (Though I havn't done much.) I am most interested in seeing if they will fix my shut down problem.

Evening all!
My score is on water cooling my CPU Q6600 to over 3.9mhz, also I've been tweaking this set up (problem free/knocks on wood) for a few months too. I have a few tweaks for rivatuner , can't post them now but will shortly!
Regards all!

Well what do you know, new Realtek drivers AGAIN. This is getting ridiculous. I think that I finally understand why the guys @ GB don't bother verifying new drivers for their boards. By the time they're in the middle of the verification process Realtek releases a new driver or two. Sigh!@!

Blazer7,

I agree, you wonder how much they are really changing with that kind of release schedule. It didn't fix my shutdown problem after playing Crysis.

Jaggerwild,

Please do send your rivatuner tweaks. I would be interested to see them. I was wrong, the GPU is clocked to 640Mhz from the factory. I have tried bumping both the GPU and memory by 30MHz without any ill effects. It does make Crysis play smoothly on "very high" settings.

Good Afternoon all!
Also A big thank you goes out to all who have fought for my freedom witch I take way to much for grand it!! THANK YOU! And keep up the GREAT WORK!!!!!!

Mr. Kaptdeath,
These tweaks may or may not produce results for you depending on the cards and who made them. I have the EVGA 8800GTS640 cards one is a SC version, this is what I do to unlock the shaders**** some say they are Lazar cut****. I have not seen any ill effects from doing this but again to cover my but.............. Please be careful.
under fan controller, click the second tab up top

at the bottom you'll see the "Install" this will not hurt anything in doing so

Go to the bottom left check both boxes then hit the "activate pixel shader units" determined by you

Then hit the custom tab down below right hand side, something like this will appear
only check the boxes that have a "disable" under the state column

In the photo I show you to check them all, but the others have no effect as there not active. Not sure if your cards even have unlock-able ones in there, I have seen no ill effects from this and I have checked them all. Now I only check the ones that say they are disabled.
See if this may or may not help you out. I have more I'll post again.
Regards all :beer::thumbsup:

Hello MrAK,

long time no see.

The E6600 was the 1st cpu I had on this board and although I'm not an overclocker I know that it overclocks quite well. There's a post by Gary on page 3 with some numbers that you may find interesting although I believe that you've already seen that back in the day, Are you using water cooling? If you'll try ocing above 3.4 you'll need some serious cooling and of course all depend on whether your cpu is one of the good ones. As with all cpus some will oc better than others. Since you're @3.4 for over a year now I would say that you stand pretty good chances with yours.

Good Morning all!
Mr Kaptdeath,
Sorry I posted them in the "where are the gigabyte X48-DQ6" thread, but still good if you find it. My bad, been too busy lately........
Got my X48 up and running, still have a lot to do before clocking it. As the SATA features are so damn confusing.
Regards all

hmmm thanks for the tip Blazer7, i appreciate the info man! Anyways i just got some idea of wanting to fully MAXIMIZE my board. i was thinking of getting 2 9700GX2s, Vista Ultimate 65-bit, most possibly a blu-ray player/DVD burner combo, and a Quad Core Processor (maybe a Q9450) and 2 more gigs of memory. My first question is with this added parts would my thermaltake 850WATT handle this load? and my next question is the most important, would this board handle the parts? thanks in advance!

Good Morning (again),
Mr. Mark,
wow a lot of questions, I know this is at Mr Blazer but figured I'd chime in. first off that PSU may not be enough also the GPU'S are 9800Gx2. The quad will not over clock to well in that board I think the most stable i got was 3200 MHZ. I think you'd be well to stay with the C2D but thats just me, as this board is not well equipped to handle a quad IMHO. And my E6750 over clocked well in it too.

@Mr. Beagle :beer:,

I wanted to report that the X48 Realtek internet teaming is right now flying in my board, it doubled my receiver times. In thirty minutes I received over 100,000 packets upload was slower. Not sure AS I didn't search your posting but it could be dew to my SATA3 hard drives not sure just yet.But did want to post for you.

regard all !

Hello MrAK,

jaggerwild posted while I was typing :p

The board can handle the 9800GX2 cards for sure and there won't be any trouble with Vista64 either but your PSU won't cut it. On top of that the Q9450 is a 45nm cpu and we already know that our board does not support it. If you take a look at GB's cpu support list you'll see that neither rev of our board support the Q9450. If you're still interested in getting 2 9800GX2 cards and you need to decide on a new PSU you should have a look here.

Hello Mr jaggerwild,

This is interesting on the teaming. I know that TheBeagle was struggling with it under Vista64. From what I can recall he had no problem with the teaming function under XP but this never worked properly under Vista. What OS are you using ?

hmmm whats a good CPU, that could OC well, for this board? I just saw the link you posted Blazer7 , the XIGMATEK HC NRP-HC1001 1000W Power Supply seems very nice to get for this board so that i could slam 2 9800GX2s in SLI. At first i was thinking of getting a new MB altogether but something made me feel that this board still has some power to its punch (ROCKY BALBOA) lol guess ill use my thermaltake 850watt as a back up or test part for future projects

Unfortunately our board does not oc very well with the quads but it does pretty good with the extreme parts so if you can get your hands on one of the 1066 extreme quads like the QX6700 then you?re set.

PS
I think that our friend justnburton is running a QX6700 @3.4+ but he's definitely on water. If you need any info on this you should PM him.

Mr. Blazer,
Yes I'm on XP, I just remembered he had the issue didn't recall the OS part. I have been just straight XP no raid as it's a fresh install, I lost my raid set up do to switching over from Nvidia raid to gigabyte raid(also some mistakes on my part as well). As I should have down loaded the software I needed before had, hell I may even try doing some online gaming as I seem up to speed now:evil: I miss my BF2 game!!!

Justinburton, are you running with water or air, for your CPU? Could you have OC it higher?

I am running on water. I can easily put it to 3.6gHz (300x12) but it gets too hot because I have 3 8800GTX watercooled on the same water loop. Right now the CPU is at 2.46gHz (13x266) and it is at about 55 Celsius at idle. At 3.6gHz, it goes up to 60 Celsius at idle.
