As I already posted earlier in this thread, the GA-N680sli-DQ6 will "go into mass production in Mid-February, and be available towards the end of February." We will be seeing those boards very soon...

I used several but for the 1T testing shown the machine had OCZ Flex. I will show everything from DDR2-800 Promos based memory up to the Dominator in the preview. We finally solved a couple of major issues this afternoon so testing is back on track. I will stay up tonight to finish it so we can post up by Friday.

This review sounds like it's shaping up to one helluva an experience. Good Luck Gary - Keep up the good work - We can wait a couple of more days for the review. In the meantime, can you tell us when to reasonably expect to be able to buy one of these beasts - and where? Thanks. TheBeagle

Gary, looking forward to this review. I know you are time constrained but will you be able to test this board with 8GB of RAM as well as its 1333MHz support. I'm interested in finding out if this board can handle it's rated memory maximum and if it really is ready for Bearlake 1333MHz processors.

:Q...will you be covering the "major issues" encountered in the preview. What I'm looking to find out is whether the issues encountered were solved by say a BIOS update or a hardware change, or if they are the kind of issues that only 4 Anandtech staff/experts/editors can solve? Thanks for the consistent updates Gary, really looking forward to the preview.

Peace

I will be covering the issues in the preview, most have been solved by BIOS updates, nothing different or changed on the hardware side. We will also have three other 680i/650i boards up for review next week. I am sure you are just as sick about seeing another P965 review as I am at doing them at this point, though the Commando is an exception.

1333 works, just cannot release any numbers or info as those are under NDA. ;) I do not have the capability yet to test 8GB of RAM, did test 4GB using 2x2GB modules. I will have another matching set of 2x2GB modules in about a week. These are newly released that are rated at PC2-6400 4-4-4-12, which have very tight timings for 2GB modules currently. We understand that by early summer 3-4-3 2GB PC2-6400 modules might be a reality.

Thanks, the preview is now scheduled for Monday and we will make that date, regardless of any further BIOS changes. The boards should be in retail within the next couple of weeks.

Gary, nice info regarding the PC2-6400 modules. I'm looking to grab 2x1GB now and then eventually max the memory once the 2GB modules are more affordable. Also, as far as not releasing any numbers, did you mean you've had a chance to sample Bearlake procs or you've run Core 2 Duo's at 1333? This former would be very exciting.

Thanks again.

Don't feel bad BS, they were NOT accepting orders for the board, just quoting a price of $249.00 (which Gary says is the MSRP - no discount!). However, I guess they (ZipZoomFly.com) just couldn't resist the GREED factor any more, and decided to gouge the buying public for everything they could get! I sent them an email last evening when I saw the ridiculous price increase, and asked them to explain their actions - they just blew me off. That kind of stuff makes you compare ZZF to the damn oil companies who have no soul, are absolute greedy bastards, and would surely screw you at every opportunity. Well, the folks at ZZF ought to realize that the "rush" to buy one of these new boards will be VERY short-lived, and folks who have been screwed by a greedy online dealer (ZZF) have a tendency to remember such things when look to buy products in the future. Maybe some of the folks who read these forum comments will have the same impression, and take their business elsewhere - like NewEgg.com and others. To ZZF I say, enjoy your brief, ill-gotten excess profits while you can, and remember, "Paybacks Are Hell!" TheBeagle

Not that newegg isn't doing the same thing. Heck the $400 Asus Striker is about $100 over MSRP to my knowledge.

Hello To Gary,
On the 14th you indicated that the review on this board would be posted today (Monday). Are you still planning to meet that posting deadline? Thanks for any info. TheBeagle

Hello to all,
Gary had some personal issues and a whole pile of work that is likely overwhelming him. We all need to give him some space and let these matters settle out. Remember the Golden Rule, "do unto to others as you would have them do unto you." Have a nice evening. TheBeagle

I just heard that there were some matters ( a revised BIOS) that required some additional time to evaluate. The review is now scheduled for Wednesday evening. A good review is like homemade spaghetti sauce, it just takes time to simmer. TheBeagle

I love how they have the retail price of $359.99 to make it look like you are getting a deal on a board with a real retail price of $249.99

Only $329.00!

I agree with Fallen; it was originally up on ZZF for $249, now it's $309 (but not in stock).

Well, they're all sold out at ClubIT. Looks like this board is going to be a HOT item!

Maybe the one thing we can draw from the apparent price gouging is the inference that the board is going to be worth it? Unless Gary Key advises it would make a better drink tray, I'll buy one.

As far as waiting for the review - Things done well take longer.

Then there is this: Gigabyte is working on the next significant BIOS revision while we wait :)
