Where are the GD video cards????!!!!

This has to be the worst launch EVER!!!!! :| :| :| :| :|

Retailers are now saying third week of Sept for x800xt's and they laugh when you ask about 6800U's. :| :| :|

This is really dumb.

WTF happened?

Cheers!

You just have to be persistant. No one's going just hand you one of these cards. All of the cards can be obtained within 2 weeks if you know where to look. They can probably be had within 1 week if you're willing to leverage your body in the form of sexual favors.

Bull! NEVER has this happened before AND the vendors that do get them are scalping them at many % above MSRP.

My point is these should be available retail in quantities by now. The "fall refresh" is around the corner for crissakes! :|

At this point, they might as well have an annual update instead of bi-annual. Paper launches suck big time and nV and ATi are guilty as OJ this time around.

Cheers!

I tend to agree with sharkeeper. It's pretty freaking sad when there's a line of people with $400 or $500 in their hand to purchase a video card and they can't find anyone to sell it to them. Or if they can find someone they want 10% - 20% over MSRP for the dasmed things!

Both ATI and Nvidia really screwed the pooch on this one. They're just lucky they both screwed up or one company would be in serious trouble right now.

Where I usually buy in Canada, the x800pro is still the only new card available...... I think maybe money is being lost on making these cards and they hoping yields will improve. Been out of the way for a while - who is winning the vapor ware war?

I agree as well (and who wouldn't?). Sadly, in my case, I'm not just waiting for a 6800 Ultra, I'm waiting for a 6800 Ultra PCI-Express (I'm building a new system from the ground up and would rather go with a 915 motherboard for future upgradability; I'm fully aware there are no benefits today, but feel there will be 12 months from now and hate replacing entire motherboards). Sadly, PCI Express versions haven't even shown up for preorders at any e-tailers I've seen.

Anyone have theories as to when I might actually be able to pick one up? I'm actually considering a $80 PCI (yes, plain PCI) 9200 so I can use the system at all until the PCI-E parts show up (in 2006? 😛 ).

This launch just sucks.

Humm, well im realy mad with this. I bought my ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition July 9th for 465$ at pcconnection.com with a 2-4 week shipping expectation, now there pricing for the X800 XT Platinum Edition has gone to around 550$ with a 1-2 week shipping expectation. I have yet to get my card, and I have the feeling I am going to be placed at the bottom of the list, replaced by the people paying 100$ more. Whata you all think? I doubt I am going to get my card in by the 2-4 week shipping expectation, excpecially since now CompUSA and others are reporting the shipping date as September 20th. This rasies another question. What is the reason CompUSA has two versions, an ATI version and a Xtasy version, at the same price, yet the Xtasy version you can go to the store and pickup today.?.?.?.? Could this have anything to do with the fine print stating that the actual parts included may change depending on demand, I read that at visiontek's website, it seems to be down right now or I would have used a direct quote.

I too am tired of vaporware. I'm just glad I have my 6800GT, even though it's not being used right now because my new system isn't completed yet. Regardless, it's nice to have it and eVGA lets you step-up. Hopefully, when the 90 days comes, I'll be able to get an ultra.

Ill admit when the cards were put out. I would have never imagined a supply problem like this 4 months after launch. I ordered my EVGA 6800 GT this afternoon with an expected shipdate of Aug 10th. This was because nobody have BFGs OC and cant tell me when they will actually ship. I have a new machine coming this week and will be using a GF3 Ti200 until the 6800 arrives lolol rotfalmoa!

Its mainly due to low yields of DDR3 ram. Dont blame ATI or NV because they have been expecting to sell many of these. They didnt expect yields to be this low on the ram. They have done their part so u cant blame them. They are doing their best.

You wouldn't believe what I just paid for a 256 MB Sapphire Radeon X800 Pro (VIVO, 1.6nn GDDR3)! $763.22 Canadian ($574 U.S.)!!! This card better soft-mod into a Radeon X800 XT or I'm gonna be really pissed!!! After all, look at the price!!!:|

Ridiculous. eVGA brings in GT's for $400 pretty regularly...

I sure will blame ATI and Nvidia. If they were unsure on the availability of this RAM then they shouldn't have launched their products. I'm sick of this "don't blame the vendor" and "don't blame ATI/Nvidia" talk. These cards were announced months ago and still aren't available. To make matters worse you've got several websites selling these already expensive cards over MSRP.
