Where is the concerted response to what is going on these days from our elected officials? They suck? The top names on the D side should be out there in unison decrying Trumps lies on the separation of kids from parents thing. BUt they are nowhere to be found.

This is the time to unify the party with a message and we get crickets.

It's important to be reserved in order to lose in November to not get out the vote at midterms. It's a tradition.

This seems like a no-brainer issue to rally support around. I don’t get it.

Good point. News is stuck mainly on Manafort and NK. There have been plenty of pieces on the immigration issue, but nothing yet, that I’ve seen, from Perez or Schumer, etc.

Schumer has said he disappoves of Trump too.

Its pretty simple, we need democrats to organize anti-trump rallies to go head to head with the orange douchebag.

How would I know if they did? If / when the media decided to stop talking about Trump 24/7?
I have been waiting for that day since 2015.

Perhaps the media could start to promote Democrats instead of being a Trump reality show...

Trump is the master of sucking the air out of a room with one uproar after another. It's all bullshit, of course, but he tries to shit it out faster than it can be cleaned up. He's in the ultimate position to do it, too.

You're right, Presidents command attention. In retrospect, one must examine the losses occurred during Obama's terms. What happened, what failed, what can be done better? I suspect much of it stems from Democrats touting the economic recovery which offends the truth of how trickle down has been crushing us. When people are hurting they don't want to hear how good the economy is for the rich. For "others". They want to know you're looking out for them and I don't think the message could connect. It lacked appeal.

Now that a Republican is President, Democrats have opportunity to speak down on the economy in ways the people can connect with. Find a problem, offer the solution, and shout it from the hilltops.

If you had Obama, Schumer, Pelosi, Biden all come out and use the word liar and strong language I guarantee it would get coverage because it would be like OMGZ THE DEMZ FOUND THEIR NUTS

Ha funny funny That would further increase the Republican turnout and increase the margin of defeat for Dems in midterms. Like it or not, by and large people are not exactly enamored with the Democrats.

Frustratingly they won't. Some people say Dems wouldn't be noticed. I had no idea who Merkley was until he went out. Beto is all over the news, more than Pelosi and Schumer.

It seems that more are getting out like Merkley and Beto, but the leadership sits giving the famous elitist impression, not wanting to seem "populist" I suppose, even with children being torn from parents. Making statements isn't good enough. I wonder if a newer generation of Dems will get out more among the people in significant ways?

Obama won cause he had a message. If the Dems had a unified one I guarantee it would get them more votes than cost them

What are Democrats doing? Quietly winning elections.

Wtf are you guys doing? Are you out marching? Are you out front trying to get out the vote? Are you donating money to Democrats who are doing the things you are asking for? Are you donating to the DNC?

Sure winning some really small potato shit. We need a unifying message from those in power against these lies being spewed. Something to rally the base. Trumps base gets raw meat all the time, we have something to rally around now, just need some leadership. From the party that gave us the one candidate that could lose to Donald Trump in the election.

We did have a recovery, right? And why did we need one, anyway? It was apparently good enough that the voters didn't think about the second question.

So they voted for more trickle down, again, for all the usual culture warrior reasons, too. Economics are peripheral to conservative voters but central to the insincere lootocracy preying on them. Whatever reason people vote GOP always comes with moar trickle down.

In reply to the original question, that has already been answered in another thread. They are trying to make 55k per day. THAT is what they are doing. Read the article linked in there. It describes the doing of all big shots

Eh, no. state elections are what matter. state elections are what determine voting districts, which determines who wins national elections. This is why, after 2008, the republican party (After spending something like a measly $30 million on about 30-40 state elections across a handful of states) was able to redraw districts and now command a majority across the country, despite turning out a significant minority share of votes, year after year after year.

The republicans have never been as unpopular as they are now, by ideology and by vote, but they win elections because they focused on the "small potatoes" 10 years ago.

Independents are roughly 40% of the voting block (the other two divide the rest, somewhat equally). Only Trumptardia would be utterly offended (unapologetic snowflakes that they are), if the dems actually called the Trumptardians out for what they are.

Remember that this country is currently in thrall under Casino Mussolini by deign of a mere ~100k votes across a handful of districts, in tiny corners of 3 states, that historically flip on a whim. Trump's base has never changed, but his base never won shit for him or his racist cadre of nationwide nazi wannabees. Trump has long lost those independents in those districts that just wanted to give him a chance. They aren't idiots, and they don't suffer sociopathic fascists like Trump lightly.

Yep. What seemed like a good idea at the time can turn into a real disaster, huh?
