Where are the Catalyst 7.5 drivers

ATI usually releases 1 per month, hence the naming scheme. However, there are only 3 more non weekend, non holiday, days left in May to release the 7.5 Cats.

Hopefully, they are taking some time to fix some issues with the 2900s.

Or, are they skipping the 7.5s for the 7.6s in June?

ATi hasn't skipped a month for as long as i can remember, though i do believe they've had some months where they release the drivers in the last few days.

Then again, with AMD [f*cking things up] at the helm, anything is possible

I'm using 8.38 RC7. :Q

The "RC" bit means "release candidate"--IOW, we test this driver and if no major issues are found, we go public with it as the final release. Any problems found are fixed, and then a new build is made as the next release candidate, ad nauseum. Since this is the *seventh* release candidate, they must have run into some pretty serious problems--most likely with the 2xxx series.

Note that this build is also supposed to have support for 2400/2600 and mobility parts, not just the 2900.

Since they're introducing a new series of cards, I wouldn't think it terribly unusual if they "missed a month." It would just be really disappointing as there are some issues I hoped they'd fixed by now, but haven't.

who is the "we" of which you speak? You and AMD? ... and everything is "we"
--until "they" run into problems
:D

and they have till Thursday to 'make' this month - i don't think AMD is shy about releasing imperfect drivers

They (AMD/ATi) still have four days counting from next Monday to release Catalyst 7.5. And I bet that they're making sure it'll support R600 properly and provide better performance/optimizations for it. They have to, or else any HD2900XT buyers would have to wait a full month before enjoying their purchase to a good measure.

Well, at least one of us is having fun. :frown:

Seriously, I was speaking from their point of view because I was defining what they must have meant when they chose the term "RC."

But if I DID have some connection  with AMD, they would have done better to "supply" me with a *free* HD2900XT
--and an 8-pin adapter.
:Q

Then I could have been one of your 10,000 fanboys.

one-hundred thousand fanboys

and i already gave up on that idea because giving away HD2900xt would cause far more "problems" rather than fanboys ... look at you guys struggling with it ... in the intro to my 'promotion' i said it depends on the Product [HD2900xt] itself.

well ... it makes sense ... if you kept saying 'we' ... even after AMD found problems [when it rightly became 'they'] i would be deeply concerned about your empathetic response and personal identification with AMD
... yes, i AM having fun [sorry]

AMD could send me a HD2900xt - and an adapter ... but they just might not get the "response" they are looking for

... and you "could'a bought a MSI" HD2900xt . ...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127289
.. the 2 Molex to 8-pin adapter is included
and it looks like a 6-pin to 8-pin also if you look closely at the pics

I've been wondering the same thing, I wouldn't be surprised if they missed May but it wouldn't be very encouraging

$20 more up-front and no free $45 gaming mouse--for an adapter that probably costs $0.50 to make? Unh-uh. I'll buy one elsewhere for $10 shipped when available.

Well, they have less than 36 hours remaining in my time zone for the month of May to release the 7.5s. With any luck, they'll have them released before I receive my 2900XT.
