Where are the 17" amd a8 laptops???

Has anyone seen one of these yet? i have tried customizing at HP but nothing above 15.6" screen seems to be available.

Probably because anyone serious enough to want a high def 1920x1200 (or 1080) would want a real intel cpu. amd is the low end - more of the 1600x900 17" TN panel

I just purchased a a G73SW from Tiger Direct for $1209.74 (including S&H) that has the 1920x1080, 17.3 monitor, i7 Intel Core 2630CM Sandy Bridge, dedicated Video with 1.5 GB. It is a screamer machine. I needed the higher resolution for my work instead of the 1920x900, which required scrolling.

No offense, but people who get 17" laptops are usually looking for a multimedia and gaming powerhouse and llano processors aren't exactly ideal for that job.

thank You to the last poster who actually answered my question. As to the first 3, I am aware of why most people buy 17" laptops BUT my reasons are:
1- that I need more screen space for the gamesI play since I am old and my eyes are not as good as yours.
2- my current laptop, 15.6" overheats with my games
3- the new fusion amd chip gives mush better graphics without the heat that an external video card, ie not on cpu chip, causes.
4- It certainly is not good for multimedia etc., but it does work very well for what I want. see above 🙂
