Spandex = douche

I wear spandex shorts on my bike, a regular plain white jersey on top. The shorts are awesome, they have built in padding for my butt and they're just really comfortable. Anyone who wears something else just so they don't look dumb is an idiot.

Don't bother trying to justify it to non-cyclists. They just don't get it and never will. Just accept their stupidity and move on.

Hate cops.

Hate pretentious cyclists.

I love biking, I just hate people in general. Wanted to hate that guy, but like another poster said, he had a good point.

See my post above. In NYS/NYC bikers must take the bike lane if there is one available and it is unobstructed. They may only take to the street if there is 1) no bike lane (and then they must stay as far right as is possible, even if it is the shoulder; or as far left as possible if it is a large, one-way street), 2) making a turn that requires exiting the bike lane, or 3) there is an unsafe obstruction in the lane.

The biker didn't do anything wrong according to #3.

But I digress, I care not to argue the legality of this. It should be common practice and SENSE to take the bike lane when it is there (as I always do).

I drive and bike with common sense and respect for others that I share the road with. The haters can keep hating and if they try to run me off the road, I'll gladly part my U-lock into their windshield. j/k:biggrin:.....or am I?

dude I seriously doubt this.

Why do you doubt it? I do exactly the same on my bicycle. Fact is, if a motorist is being an asshole in traffic, you can easily squeeze past and give their window/wing mirror a solid punch. There's nothing they can do short of getting out of their cage and chasing you.

As for taking a whole lane in narrow areas - only stupid cyclists dont do this. I wear hi-vis gear when on my bike, so I'm perfectly visible. I sit right in the middle of the lane or offset to the side so I'm right in front of a driver's face. They're not going to deliberately run you down, and it's 1000x safer than riding in the shoulder in narrow areas with motorists trying to pass you extremely closely. I'll put up with a few honks and hand waving to keep myself safe. Motorists can GTFO TBH.

It's funny, I hear more mtb riders say things like that but I see more of them injured every year, some of them very seriously, than I've ever gotten on a road bike in decades of riding.
This. I ride road and MTB. Al my injury stories are from the MTB, and this past weekend a kid in the jump gully, in the forest where I ride, ate dirt and ingested his handlebar end into his abdomen.

Drivers can be extremely dickish to road riders, however. I recently had one pass me then run to the edge of the road to kick up debris such as stones and dust in my face. It annoyed me, but at the end of it all, he's a complete prick and I just carried on with my ride.

I don't lie. I was commuting down Melrose and traffic was lined up leading up to the 78 freeway so I was actually passing a Ford Exploder when the driver started coming over into the bike lane so I started banging on the rear window to get the driver's attention. Soccer mom swerved back into her lane and I just kept on going.

Supposedly. We never see this obstruction in his video. And a temporary obstruction would not give you cause to always ride outside the lane.

I bike around a fair amount in Manhattan; the only thing that surprises me and annoys me with these tickets is the people that they give them to pale in comparison to the more obvious and dangerous offenders.

I didn't even get that far...I stopped taking him seriously after he started talking about riding safely and wasn't wearing a helmet.

i was more like 'huh a nissan titan in europe? whoa we export stuff now?'

edit: nevermind, it's a frontier
I was thinking "FAAAAAKE, nobody in Europe drives pickups"

I like the end where he crashes into a police car.

I bet he got a ticket for that, too.

I always keep a lookout for cyclists on my road (since we don't have bike lanes on all roads around here), but man some of you guys are such pretentious douchebags that it's hard to care about what happens to you.

I see so many cyclists around here splitting the lanes, running reds at busy intersections, etc. One of these days I'm going to see somebody get seriously injured or killed from their stupidity and all I'll think is "If that guy hadn't been so pretentious, he'd be in a car, and not dead right now".

umm, yeah exactly. Who the fuck is not going to chase your ass down for slamming their car and damaging it?

Let me guess you did tap their car, but you make it look like an accident and there is never any damage.

Then you think "Oh let him chase me, I will throw my jumping side kick and follow with a falcon punch.

Most cyclists are little skinny pencil necks, I have rode with them.

Motorists can GTFO TBH.

You seem to hate everything. Going bike vs car though is how we are losing areas to ride and how many are jumping on that war bandwagon.

Just like you think you are going around smashing cars, doesn't take much for a duallie to clip a rider with extended mirrors and drive off laughing.

And what have you ever done, tough guy? You talk shit about how tough you are and how soft everyone else is, but all the pics and videos that you link to that you're in have this saggy soft fuck in them who gets out of breath getting out of bed.

I do a fair amount of road cycling. We have these rather long, quite steep canyons that are popular for cyclists to ride up. Great climbing training. When I'm going down these canyons I'll often hit 40+ MPH (speed limit is 40). When I'm going that fast, I take the lane. I hate hate hate it when I'm doing the speed limit and some jerk comes up behind me and honks. Or when I catch up to a car and they slow down because they are worried about me.

LOL, uh oh it's the tough guy Alky again. Firstly, smacking your window or mirror doesn't typically damage it (occasionally the mirror), and keep in mind I'm only doing it if motorists are only complete fuckheads anyway. But the answer to your question is, absolutely no one chases ever. Mostly because they're stuck in traffic and too fat to get out of their car.

If you paid attention I have done quite a bit. I beleive I posted a story here about me going after a car that splashed a puddle up on a bus stop at UF over a mom and her baby. They went off road to run from me.

I have fucked up a lot of people, I don't do it hit and run style behind their backs. I confront them.

As much a saggy fuck you think I am, sadly I'd be able to stick you in your trunk while I sport fuck whatever chick you are with....she'd have not a care in the world when you got out and would probably just leave you there.

I guess you will now go cry to your moderator friends that I am picking on you again.

Ahh so you just target those that can't defend yourself.

I was also originally responding to Jules and his 'brag' that he hits cars with his U-Lock.

Bullshit on both accounts that guy would get snapped in half by most dudes.
