i want to get all of the Debian ISO's, and all the Mandrake ISO's for the latest releases. I'll store the Debians, and learn Linux using Mandrake, then switch to Debian.

hopefully. :p

You will have much, much better luck if you download your Debian files using Jigdo. Besides, 3.1 is six months ol,d I'd recommend getting 'starge' (the lastest unstable release), it should work fine, but you'd have to use Jigdo.

I am not replying any more to this thread until it is moved to the right forum.

Join the club! I downloaded and installed it on a free drive and now I get Operating System not found when I boot up. The machine had XP Home on it and I think I screwed it up trying to make it dual-boot. Oh well, I can still boot the machine when I stick my XP CD in the drive. Probably need to do an fdisk /mbr or something, but since I don't have a floppy anymore... :(

Linux will never win the masses if it continues to be this hard to install and configure.

Go to linuxiso.org, and use the "newaol" mirror. They tend to be one of the faster ones out there.
