I'm looking to build another PC and this time I'm thinking if I should spend some cash on a power supply. I've had generic PSU's since the late 1990's and never had a problem. Any idea where and by whom are antec's made? does the company own it's own factory, or do they contract out?

ChannelWell still makes most of Antec's PSUs (Antec is really a marketing company, not a manufacturer) and I believe that most are made in the "People's Republic" of China now like most other brands.
. If you want a nice PSU at a decent price, look at the Silverstone 400W either with or without Active PFC. It is made by Enhance, a very good OEM.

Do you get dead on or above voltages with that generic psu. I sure don't with the pos generic one I got.

Switching power supplies are a reactive load on the power system. That means that the current load curve doesn't match up with the voltage curve. A measure of the mismatch is called the Power Factor. Active PFC (Power Factor Correction) works to make the curves line up so the PSU looks more like a passive load (ordinary resistor) to the power system. The units with Active PFC are generally at the top of a given mfr's line and often are more efficient (less waste heat) than units without it. So you can save a little money on your electric bill and your PSU may run a bit cooler.
