Hah, like previous occasions when "big name" websites have come out with reviews either only bit by bit, or with broken stuff, or serious errors in them as they make their "best review on the internet" which also happens to surface after most other reviews which don't have such serious flaws?

HardOCP seems to have done a nice job. I must say, in the beginning, I did not like their method of benching with the "best playable settings" scheme. But it's growing on me.

I think it's idiotic. I don't have the time or patience to sit there trying to decipher how the settings differ between the cards. I just want to see how the performance compares between cards at equivalent settings. They're trying to be clever but it just doesn't work.

Well, if you just took an extra minute or so to understand it, it is actually quite a good reference. It shows us the best and highest quality for a given card at certain resolutions.

For example, a X1800XT is playable at a given game at 1600x1200 with 4xAAA and 16xAF. Anything higher renders it borderline unplayable. While the same game on a 7800GTX may only be able to be playable at 2xAA and 8xAF at the same resolution.
It's a good indicator of a cards capabilities. I also like VERY MUCH how they show min, avg, and max framerates for each game tested. Most sites only give you the max which tells us nothing about how low the fps can dip.

Actually, I think it's worthwhile. There are a million sites that show graphs the way you want them (all cards at same settings with averages displayed, even if a card is only able to hit 12fps), so it's much appreciated that there is at least one site that takes a different approach.

i like it too . . . it's goal is to compare the cards at their highest playable settings . .. very practical [and 'improved' over earlier HardOCP comparisons]

the x1900xtx seems a very worthwhile upgrade from an x1800xt . . . and seems to take nVidia's best single 512-GTX to the cleaners [from the 5 or 6 reviews i have finished] ;)
