In tom's article on June 11 he said that some manufacturers (including asus) should be unveiling their SIS735 mobos in a few days- well, it's been 9 days and not a peep.

Anybody have a clue? :(

I want to upgrade and I want that chipset in my computer but I'm getting restless! :Q

bump

This damn motherboard...if it would come out already, I'd know when I'm upgrading! If it came out this week, I'd upgrade to it in a second...instead I have to wait on all of the upgrades I had planned. :(

Oh well...

I'm gonna wait and see how the frist few MB's fare. The SIS 735 looks pretty sweet, however! I'm hoping to pair that with a Palimino when I finally upgrade my aging Celeron 800.

RGN, that was a pretty ignorant statement. That would be like me saying that Intel processors are so much faster than AMDs and a lot more stable. Go do some research before you do any more crapping. (HINT: Check out tom's hardware for one- he has a preview with benchies that may make you wet yourself...oh, and check out what he says about stability and cost...read the whole freakin article, okay? :))

I have to agree w/ RGN, I stoped reading after someone said Tom's $hitware.

JoeDaddy, equally ignorant statement. Tom had his problems, but he's okay now. He's not going to be biased for a company that he rarely ever deals with, anyway. Jeez. BTW, check out thetechzone's review of it then. I'll search for more articles that rate the SIS735 very favorably.

Would you guys mind not crapping in this thread? If you want to discuss the performance of this chipset, there are plenty of other threads- do a search.

Excuse me, I didn't know that you could thread crap in the "General Hardware" forum. But you have already proved my point.

<< Tom had his problems, but he's okay now >>

I doubt that he is "okay" now. He's just telling you what you want to hear. :Q Either way, I've said my peace and good luck with your sis735 mobo when it comes out.

So then, why is it that the SiS735 has been previewed favourably by everyone who has seen it?

as for Toms Hardware, it's doing ok, but I don't visit it, due to the lack of time I have..

Whatever...I don't exactly think he messes with the benchmarks, this can be supported by all of the other reviewers getting similar results.

BTW, I don't visit Tom's Hardware either, but I found a link to that SIS735 article and read it. I'm not tommy's biggest fan either, but I can't deny that he is a pretty smart guy- sure he goofed up a few times, but that's in the past. He's been straight and clean for many months now. ;)

Heh...anyway, BUMP!

zippy,

Do you think if you bump this thread enough times that boards will arrive sooner?;)

I too am waiting for them because Via as not been that great but not bad either, more choices are always better & forces the competitors to improve their products too.

The next few months should be great for Amd;with SIS,Nvidia, the Smp boards,it's gonna be fun by the time fall gets here.:)

Here's a BUMP for you Zippy.;)

Bah, ignore the thread crappers and they'll go away.

I want to see some 735 mobos too. If Asus, MSI or another good company can come up with a mobo soon, it'll be very hard not to upgrade. :) I'm still debating whether or not I should go for dual Palominos, but that would be kind of expensive for what I do. nForce looks good, but it'll take even longer to come out, and I'm sure it'll be more expensive.

I wonder what people bashing the SiS chipset think of the nVidia chipset... I bet they think it's the best thing since sliced bread, while nVidia has even less experience in the mobo business than SiS, and we haven't seen a serious test of the nForce yet...

this may be a stupid question, but what is the sis735 chipset for? and what is so special about it?

Smapty, it's a (socket A, of course) DDR chipset for the Athlon (Thunderbird and i think it will work with Palomino). Very fast, very stable, and very cheap (since it only has 1 IC encompassing both the north and south bridges, instead of separate north and south bridges).

I dont think any of the big mobo makers are making a Sis board just yet because that would mean exacerbating their relationship with VIA. But why do we have to lock ourselfs into the Sis735?? The KT266 "revision2" is looking very strong, I'd rather have that than a Sis.

LXi, from what I've read many large manufacturers are making SIS735 based boards. MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, etc.

Why wouldn't they? Hell, many of them made ALi magik boards...blech.

Btw, i am so excited for this because I need to upgrade now and if this damn thing would come out in the next few days (within a week or two) I would get it in a heartbeat because it's so fast and pretty well off for the future (considering I think it supports Palomino, has DDR, and would be the fastest out). I mean, considering I'm using an MSI 6309 (Apollo Pro 133A), I don't want to wait for the nForce, nor will I be upgrading to it in a few months. :)
