Been waiting for the good stuff for several months now but only the Plextor is my top choice.
What happened to Sony and the rest of the bunch?? Have I been living like a caveman the past
few weeks??

I think Sony and Pioneer will be coming out with one really soon. Maybe January.

it's a shame when only Plextor is your top choice :p

I am thinking about selling my LG which I just bought, to a guy at work, and getting the Plex :D

I second the Plextor, I love mine, and once an 8x DVD-R standard is apporved, I think they'll probably offer a firmware upgrade to support it, but that's not for sure

exactly! I don't want to take the chance so I've been pulling out my hair patiently waiting...and waiting... and I want to get it b4 XMAS of THIS YEAR!!!
Guess if nothing new comes out b4 the week of xmas, I'll be ordering a Plextor :) and my little SB75G2 rig will be complete!

So far I have got
Intel 2.8 @ 3.15
Corsair XMS 3200LL
250 gig WD
9600 ATI AIW
NEC 4x dvd+r burner (beige...thus don't go too well with the all black shuttle case).

It has been perfect for backing up my xbox games... I never have to worry about scratching my $49 discs again.
