My screen is getting repaired so my window is wide open, doesnt seem to matter since I have yet to encounter a single fly or mosquito here. There was a wasp caught in my screen when I first moved here but that was it. I also work part time in a restaurant and have seen 0 flies, back east our restaurant was swarmed with flies and mosquitos were everywhere. Do flying bugs not like coastal areas?

Dont get me wrong, its nice to be outside and not get bitten by mosquitos, i just find it weird that there are none

I think it's the combination of the heat (in most places) and lack of rainfall during most of the year.

It is generally fairly dry here with little to no rain during the summer months so no standing water means no mosquitos.

Gotta love SoCal!!!

If you wish, I could overnight you a nice big box of assorted bugs from Florida. We got plenty here.

well, im near the coastal areas and the highs during august are in the 70s, sometimes 80s

When I was in Sedona, I was bitten by mosquitos, that place is hotter and dryer I think

Well, we used to have more but then women in bikini's complained about bites. We were given a choice, either the bugs go or they would. So we sent all the bugs to florida.

It's generally colder here then...maybe a bit too cold for them.

Before the larger organisms die from the incredible level of air pollutants in SO CAL, the smaller ones go first. Thus, you have a natural fly and moquitoe repellant.

And in my backyard, as they do every summer. I like opening the sliding glass door to my patio but closing the screen door, turning on the attic fan and then watching tons of them get sucked up against the screen. Then I just spray them as they're stuck there, held captive by the strong flow of wind being sucked in.
