Where are all the 6970's?

They are but once the supply of those ran out the 69xx were the next best option.

Where?

Just looked on ebay. I see them all the time on the for sale/trade forums around the internet, along with 5870's and 5830's.

Why spend 350$ on a 6970 for bitcoin?

edit: Just checked Tiger direct they have 5 or 6, mabe its just newegg.

My question, is where the HECK are all of the 6990s? It seems like they amd did one batch of those and when they sold out that was it. They aren't making anymore. Given that the 6990 beats the pants off a stock 590, you'd think they would at least put more of them in the market.

Probably isnt worth the investment with the 7000 series right around the corner. Most people are going to be going 2x 6950 anyway because it is cheaper and just about as good.

Pricing it vs a 6950 is all and no my 6870 killing gtx460 is running just fine. 🙂

How have you been Will, playing well with others now?

Errr...

Anyway, I imagine bitcoin miners are sucking up the Radeons. I'm part time mining, at this rate I'll be able to upgrade to a new Sandy Bridge or Bulldozer system for 'free' in a few months. I should just lower my CPU voltage and downclock, and then put both my cards to work mining 24/7. A lot of us like the fact that we can make a few bucks for just letting our computer crunch numbers. I believe this is why the higher end Radeons are getting a bit harder to find.

Miners are probably popping 2-3 6990s in their systems, for a total of 4-6 GPUs rather than a total of 2-3 GPUs.

Looking to buy a 6970?
Why is that....GTX460 turned out to be problematic and not as good as you were hoping for?😵

Will Robinson and happy medium: knock if off with the baiting.

Neither of you are fooling anyone, if you can't help yourselves from baiting each other then you will leave the moderators no choice but to help you for the sake of the rest of the community.

I think they are popular for the part time bitcoin miners. Mainly, they are the best possible single-gpu gaming card that can also mine at a decent rate. They might not be the best at mining, but for someone who just want to mine on the side they are A+++.

Miners are probably a good explanation for 6990 stock, but the 6970s is most likely gamers and HPC companies. It seems like the number crunchers realised that even without ECC and the corresponding compute hit having to software ECC their calculations, the 6000 series radeons are still a great bang for the buck HPC card. I hope AMD has enough initial 7000 series ECC cards on launch to keep the HPC people from hosing the gamer market. =S

Edit: Oh, and this is a good sign for OpenCL acceptance.
