Where are all the 6800GT PCIe cards?

Does anyone have any idea as to where/who/when the 6800GT PCIe card will be out in major channels for close to retail price?

Or better yet, does anyone know when we might actually see some other venders other than BFG and XFX actually make a 6800GT PCIe.

It seems like in the past when a good card came out, the other venders like Gainward, MSI, Chaintech, Leadtek, Gigabyte, etc all jumped on board to make a good graphics card and actually gave the user some options. Now it seems like we only have two choices, BFG and XFX and after reading thru this forum and hearing about capacitors broken off, dead board, etc. these two don't even seem like it would be worth the risk of spending 400 bucks on. (let alone if i was impatient and wanted to blow 500-600 and get one now.. not!) How did BFG and XFX become the only maker of high end 6800 PCIe boards?

I am interested in reading any comments or feedback. (or if you just want to vent as well. 😉 )

Thanks,

Well I just read this.. Let's hope it is true...

Nvidia to finally ship NV45, 6800 Ultras PCIe

By the end of the month
By Fuad Abazovic in Las Vegas: Monday 10 January 2005, 19:31

NINE MONTHS after its NV40 introduction, Nvidia is still struggling to ship most of its PCIe high end parts based on this core.
NV45, 6800 GT or Ultra PCIe series are nothing more than an NV40 chip with BR2 bridge chip and specially PCB,but so far, Nvidia has hardly shipped any of the NV45s.
To be precise, Nvidia shipped some quantities of Geforce 6800GT PCIe but hardly any 6800Ultra PCIe. Luckily we heard from several sources that the first batch of NV45 based 6800 Ultra PCIe card is scheduled for end of the January. You can imagine our excitement when we heard that company can actually ship a chip announced nine months ago.
We are not sure about the numbers that Nvidia can possibly ship but many Nvidia partners were keen to tell us that they might have some cards by the end of the month. We don?t think those cards will break shelves on the shop near by but you should be able to get some at least from etail web stores.
For most of Nvidia customers, this will be the first batch of NV45, 6800 Ultra PCIe cards ever. So much about X800XT PE card being the only ghost product. We can simply say that 6800 Ultra or X800XT PE were extremely unavailable trough 2004.

so there is no evga 6800GT pcie card that anyone knows of? just an xfx? i havent even seen a BFG anywhere.

I fixing to order everything for my new comp tonight...and it looks like its gonna sit without a video card for a bit if i dont get my hands on one...

I have an EVGA 6800 GT i got at a computer show this weekend in Chicago. It came in a system, which I will be reselling with a different video card. 😉

Im hoping Chumbo will live up to their promise and have the BFG 6800GT available in 2 weeks. They are about the only ones selling the GT's for MSRP at the moment. I should have bought 2 when they were available, but my stupid mind told me to wait till i got my SLI mobo :brokenheart:

And the situation is not likely to improve anytime soon. nVidia now says supplies will be tight for at least the 1st half of 2005.

Remember too, Gainward is dropping out of the US, so you won't be seeing anything from them.
