When's the Palm Pre supposed to drop for AT&T and/or Verizon?

Has there been a set date? Everything I've found online only mentions that AT&T and Verizon will be selling them, but mentions no dates.

I'm wondering if AT&T will get a new Palm device. I doubt it but you never know. Regardless, I'm buying the Pre Plus when it hits Verizon in a week or so.

Well the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus are both Verizon exclusive (though they didn't say for how long). AT&T said they'll have two WebOS devices coming, so that means either:

1) AT&T will simply get a GSM version of the standard Pre & Pixi that Sprint has (likely)
2) AT&T will get 2 completely different as of yet unannounced phones from Palm (unlikely).

What's the diff between the Pre and Pre Plus?

Pre Plus has:
Double the ram (512MB vs 256MB)
Double the storage (16GB vs 8GB)
Redesigned slider mechanism (Apparently more sturdy than the original Pre's?)
Slightly redesigned keyboard (now similar to the Palm Pixi's keyboard apparently)
Center button replaced by touch sensitive light bar (originally on the Pixi only)
Ability to be used as a personal wifi router (can connect up to 5 devices; will probably be insanely expensive)

you forgot the built in inductive back for charging.

Yep pretty much better in every way which is awesome. I hope this gets more people on the
WebOS bandwagon as it's an awesome OS and just the hardware was lacking.

There was a multitasking test and the Pre Plus was able to run 50 apps with no apparent lag. The original Pre topped out at 13. The Plus didn't actually top out at 50, the guy just ran out of apps/got tired of doing it.

Can you say awesome?

Yeah, I'm actually kind of jealous now of the Pre Plus. Amazing how much more multi-tasking ability it has after upping the RAM. Should be a great phone for Verizon people

Eh, the video isn't all that impressive, he loads up a bunch of apps. He doesn't try to really use them tho, heh. However, w/ that said, it's refreshing to not have that memory error when all I have open is music and chat. Or if an app is taking a while to let go of memory, you can freely launch another app w/o waiting.

It is still laggy as a whole though. Nothing is running any faster, even though it should given the hardware. Palm needs a bit of work still in optimizing the OS. I'm hoping WebOS 2.0 fixes that (at this point, I have little faith in 1.x addressing major speed issues).

I also hope the successor to the Pre is a bit larger so it can have a bigger damn battery, heh

Does he not go right back in and drive in the game with all of the apps open? I thought he did, but maybe I'm remembering the video incorrectly.

You might want to use WebOS Doctor and do a complete refresh of your install. Ever since 1.3.5 hit, I have had ZERO lag/speed issues. But since 1.3.5 moved stuff around as to where it's stored, its possible it didn't do all that right which could still cause your phone to hang a bit.

WebOS Doctor is an outstanding way to do the equivalent of a Windows reinstall.
