Actually, Relic has owned the Homeworld franchise for nearly a year now. They repurchased it back in September 2007.

But until they come out with Homeworld 3 (I can't imagine they'd repurchase it for no reason), you could try Homeworld 2 with the Tactical Fleet Simulator mod. It really adds to the overall realism.
