Now that I think about it....

It's probably been years since the last time I used any for my day to day usage.

Some of the labs on campus still use ball mice. The first thing I do whenever I need to use one I hadn't used the day before is pop it open and clean the rollers.

A few of the PC kiosks located around campus have CRTs, and of course they're all set to 60Hz, with access to the Display Properties disabled. :disgust:

Fortunately there are free third-party resolution setting utilities.

I miss my CRT and its lovely response time. Sure widescreen is nice, as is the light weight and reduced power consumption of an LCD, but the response time sucks. I'm using an LG 226WT now - rated 5ms response time. I really don't like the ghosting when scrolling or dragging windows.

Still use CRT's at home, 2 20" flat screen Sony tubes so no rush to replace them.

7-8 years on the ball mouse?

Oh please it's not that frickin bad, only issue i have with the crt's is that they have a huge footprint on my desk (2-21's) and that they put out a of heat(which in a heavily air conditioned office is almost unnoticeable) I would bitch more if i where forced to work on two crappy 17-19" lcd's with crappy resolution.

/I agree that ball mice are teh suck though

Haven't regularly used a ball mouse in several years. I use a CRT at work, and I did at my last job, and it's my secondary monitor at home.

Had a ball mouse at work until a month or so ago. I brought in my own mouse because the ball one kept getting gummed up.

Had a CRT monitor at home that I used until around christmas when I bought a laptop. Now it's in the closet.

i'd rather deal with ball mouse than CRT.
staring at a all day long CRT dries out my eyes. have not had that problem since i went LCD.

About an hour ago (at work). I had a 20" CRT up until a few months ago when the green gun on it finally died (everything became very purple).

The computers in the house that aren't laptops are on CRTs...I also predominantly use a tube TV...I haven't used a ball mouse for at least a year, though.

I'm using a Logitech trackball right now. It's probably about 10 years old. Works fine though. No need to replace it.

I got an LCD back in 2004 though and haven't looked back since.

I'm using a ball mouse (old IntelliMouse) and a 21" Dell P1130 (Sony Trinitron) CRT monitor right now, at home. I had an LCD panel myself 2 years ago, but switched to this one because the price was right ($160 shipped). I actually prefer the CRT to the cheap Dell LCDs I've used at school and that my brother has. I keep the refresh rate at 100Hz and take breaks often, so it isn't hard on my eyes. I think I'll only switch to an LCD if this one dies or if I can afford an LCD that has better quality, real estate, and resolution than my CRT.

The keyboard I'm using is also an old PS/2 one from Gateway, and it's definitely more satisfying to use than the cheap keyboards that come with most PCs nowadays. I have an old IBM Model M that I bought a while back but never used because I didn't have the appropriate connector (it has one of those ones that looks like a phone plug).

Ball mouse? Computer lab. One of the older labs doesnt use optical mice yet.

CRTs uhh I had to hook my desktop to a CRT when somehow it failed to display on my TV the other time like 3 months ago. But otherwise it's just sitting in my room doing nothing.

Ball mouse? Can't say.

CRT? Using my 5/6 year old 17" Samsung Syncmaster 753DF on my second 939 rig which is the family computer. It has nice color and is perfect still for gaming.

we've got a bunch of ball mice at work... I don't use them at my regular workstation, but we have them on our crash carts and in the build area.

CRTs not so much... we have 2 giant ones in the NOC, but I wouldn't count that as "using" them since they're really just there for show.

We switched to all LCD's at work, but I think that there are still a few ball mice in there.

I still have a few CRT TV's, which is OK considering how many stations are STILL only broadcasting their crap in SD only.

About 2 weeks ago I visited my brother, and he's using a ball mouse and 19" CRT. I gave him an optical mouse a year or two ago and asked him what happened to it and he told me his wife was using it.

We ordered him a new prebuilt a few days ago from Dell that will have USB keyboard and mouse and ordered a Samsung 2253LW 21.6" LCD elsewhere.

The last CRT I used on my computers died about 1.5 months ago although my younger daughter still has my old Viewsonic 91 inch on her PC & I havn't owned a ball-mouse for years.

Unfortunately since I work on PC's for a living I'm forced to use both all the time. :(
