Not yet announced. search for older Google IPO threads to see why investing in it is a bad idea for most people.

Would probably work out perfect for you then. As someone who follows the search engine world daily (we have clients we provide search engine marketing/advertising services for) I'd agree that Google will probably not be a good long term investment for most people, nor will it usher in a second tech boom on the market as a whole as so many were heralding a year ago. It might be ok to buy early and then get out in a matter of a few months. But Google's major asset (their search technology and its perceived superiority over other search engines) is rapidly losing its value. Other search engines have made great strides in recent years, equaling (and in some cases eclipsing) Google quality results, yet most people have been so focused on Google they haven't bothered to notice. Yahoo's recent axing of Google results (with no discernable traffic fallout; meaning most people didn't even notice Google's not powering Yahoo search anymore) coupled with Google's recent decrease in quality of search results has helped bring this more into perspective.

I realize Google has other assets and sources of revenue (we have several clients spending loads of money on Google ads), but I think they've lost their chance to make the gigantic splash they COULD have made had they gone public a year or two ago.
