As you can see in my sig, these are the components I want to buy. Right now, with a monitor, mouse, keyboard, HS and speakers, it totals to $1350. I'd like to spend less than that if I can buy at the right. When should I buy and why?

You will get different opinions from everyone. I say wait for conroe, july 23rd? I think its when it comes out. Some will say you will be a beta tester since its not a mature tech, but personally i dont think itll be as bad as all that. Cant see intel ditching socket 775 anytime soon, but ya never know. Happened with 423. Also you will be required to buy DDR2 which is more future proof than DDR.

Although there is the people that say theres no future proofing and the best time to buy is now, thats bullcrap, theres smart times to buy and less.. smart times to buy :) Smart time would be to wait for conroe and see how that pans out. Its supposed to be a better performer and pretty cheap too.

yeah i wasn't sure when conroe came out and I thought that the prices would drop when Am2 came out... that didn't happen, maybe I will end up going with core2 but more than likely I'll stick with athlon 64 and s939. Maybe buy all that stuff on black friday.
Thanks

Intel Conroe is performance processors that are the best "bang of buck" and I think it's worth to wait until July or August. I'm waiting for sweet X6800 Conroe rig. :D

there are reported price cuts when conroe comes out. Link. if you want to go with an older model intel (PD or P4), they'll be getting pretty cheap. you could wait for then i suppose
