When's best to use the Soul Cube in Doom 3?

I see its icon illuminate, but I'm not exactly sure when to use it - do I use it when the enemy is alive or dead? It just confuses me a bit. Thanks in advance.

When you are low on life or have a tough fight with multiple enemies. It will 'refill' after you kill more demons and be usable again so don't worry about wasting it.

The reason why he said to use it when you're low on life is because the soulcube will replenish your life with the damage it does to other enemies.

Also, every 5 kills you get (anything, that includes the little spiders) the soulcube will charge up for one use. Keep in mind that only one charge and queue up, so once you get those 5 kills, and you hear "use us", and you're health is low.....use it.

Save it for a strong enemy also, 2 birds with 1 stone. (Heals and an easy kill)

Just use it every 6 kills.
(and crank the sounds UP^ . . . you are missing the whispered use us)

You can't lose . . . everything becomes a "walkthrough in god mode" :p

you energy refills automatically and then it's on to kill 6 more . . . i beat the End Boss in 1 try.

:Q

WTF was id thinking? Were they in that much of a hurry to rush their game out ahead of HL2?

I doesn't kill the CyberDemon in one hit.

Generally I save it for hell knights and Revenants.

who says it does?:p
(3 hits, i think on my 1st try) ;)

and why save it at all? . . . just kill 5 [/i]something's else[/i] - if you get stuck battling a more powerful enemy, the SC will "refresh you" . . . again and again.

(i love eXploiting "loopholes" that should have been 'closed')

Yah, just shoot it off everytime you get it filled up. It will fill up again real quick as soon as you get 5 more kills.

If you had played a challenging difficulty, you would have seen the reason to save it.

you need to kill 5 enemies before it is ready to use, then it will kill just about any one enemy you chuck it at with the 1 hit. after using it you need to kill 5 more before it can be used again. it indicates it is ready to be used when it says "use us", and also shows a gold icon towards the bottom-right corner of the HUD.

Since the health points it takes off thre bad guy are then given to you, use it when you need health yourself, or save it to quickly dispatch the nastiest badguy when you're in, or likely to get into trouble. I like to use it on archville's since you can dispatch them really quick, before they can summon other guys, or anything else that soaks up a fair amount of a type of ammo you're short on (e.g. i find plasma gun easiest to deal with revenants, since it takes out the rockets easily too, so if i have plenty plasma i just kill it that way, but if i'm running low i'll use the cube to take it out and conserve ammo).

edit: wrong baddie names

I'll take a demo of you beating nightmare difficulty without saves. Or just a demo from nightmare hell on.

I havent had much time to play it so I'm not even half way yet, but arent you referring to the Archvile? The Revenants are, or at least were, the guys with the homing rockets on their shoulders that also tried to punch you.
